Oklahoma City’s rental prices are shockingly low by both the Southwestern region and U.S. standards--The Business Journals named it the most affordable rental market in the country with an average rent that’s almost $300 less than the national rate. It’s a perfect climate for college students--the city’s rental market is growing but the prices are staying low. They will inevitably rise, but right now they are quite affordable: the average price for a one bedroom is just $620/month, and $758/month for a two bedroom (which would only cost around $325 each for you and a roommate). Oklahoma City has grown significantly over the past few decades in both population (now ranked 30th in US cities by number of residents) and culture. It is undeniably the greatest hub for culture in Oklahoma, and is making its claim for one of the best cultural cities of the Southwest. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art hosts visiting exhibits, its own pieces, and has a theater that plays every kind of movies, from indies to foreign flicks. There are also great music and theater venues, a science museum, museums for things like cowboys, banjos, and osteology, and the most exciting arena in the NBA, the Chesapeake Energy Arena, where the Thunder play basketball.
