Westport Central's streamlined architectural detailing reveals a fascination with movement emblematic of the iconic 1940's Art Moderne movement. Accented in a rich brown brick, the horizontal emphasis of the masonry details in the base and crown wrap the gold facades with a stately presence, elegantly connected by the soaring pilasters that highlight the grand entrance. Original elements, such as the parquet hardwood floors, merged with updated finishes give Westport Central a unique character that will fit any style.

Westport Central is part of the Mac Properties community of apartments in Midtown KC. Living here also means that you can choose to pay a nominal fee to have access to the Mac Neighborhood Amenities like The Gymnasium and The Carriage House Pool. See more at livingatmac.com/gymswim

Great staff, any maintenance I've requested have been handled promptly in a reasonable amount of time. I wish Mac Property have a higher review but it seems other reviews are based on unforeseen events, and then the review is magnified in great details with all horrible emotions included, but rarely do they mention how soon the problem were fixed or fixed at all. It's unfortunate we live in a world where bad news spread faster than good news.

I lived here for a year from 2015-2016. My experience with this complex was very dis-satisfactory. I ended up having the lease terminated because WPC could not reliably provide water to my unit on the 10th (top) floor. I believe this was an issue due to the water system in the building's age, please read the list of cons below for details. Pros: Good location if you like going out and about in KC, you are less than 10 minutes from the Plaza, Westport, Downtown, Crossroads, River Market, and the West Bottoms. Rent is relatively affordable compared to other places in the city. Management is friendly and usually responsive for routine maintenance requests. Ted is good to work with, very friendly and knowledgeable. Google Fiber is available. Cons: Parking will be an issue for all residents without an assigned space (about 10 total spaces, waiting list took almost a year, +$40/month). The area itself is a little sketchy, but not awful. The building is very old, you will find your unit lacking many basic features you are likely used to such as: kitchen space, cabinet space (none in the bathroom), and there are few electrical outlets in each unit (none in bathrooms). They claim it was renovated within the last 5 years, and this may be true. However, I believe my problems with the water system were due to an un-thorough renovation as far as the pluming is concerned. This was a MAJOR issue that resulted in the termination of my lease. There were days when I had no water at all, no hot water, or no cold water. I could easily go periods of weeks and months without reliable water for bathing and cleaning, it was unsanitary and violated MAC's responsibilities laid out in the lease and as regulated by the State of Missouri. I worked with all levels of management (up to regional) in my attempts to get this problem fixed to no avail. They refused to provide alternative accommodation during my stretches without water, and they refused to refund or pro-rate rent for the times I could not stay in my apartment due to these conditions.

I moved here in the middle of February and all was well for the first week or two. But I have finally experienced the water temperature issues and seen the passive aggressive notes people write about not picking up after their dogs, smudged crudely on the elevator walls. 3 times in the last week and a half I've run into some issues with homeless people sleeping in the lobby or the inner side doors. I work nights so it's a little unsettling to have to clutch my pepper spray as I walk to the elevators. I've also seen people going through the overflowing dumpsters at night. Weird. Gross. Whatever. My neighbors also don't seem to mind leaving boxes and trash outside of their doors. Including but not limited to large comforters, shoes, grocery bags and other weird annoyances. Sometimes the hallways reek of weed. Sometimes it smells like someone's grandma's house or stale food. Usually Its not too terrible. The laundry card thing is stupid and inconvenient, I was under the impression it could be loaded online but oh well. I pay for parking so I don't have any issues with that other than the occasional jerk who parks in my spot, and having to reverse all the way out of the very, very, tiny parking lot. Overall I probably wouldn't sign another lease here. For the location and the price it's not the worst. If a small crappy studio with a nice mini kitchen will work for your lifestyle temporarily, it's an okay place to sleep.

I have lived here for about six months and as I read other reviews I agree and disagree with some of the issues. Parking: yes parking can be a pain, but we all rented here knowing they didn't have designated parking and it was street parking. Well, newsflash people, you live in a building that houses over a hundred apartments, do you think no one drives? I have never had an issue finding a space. Once a month I have to park far away, and that is usually when I'm looking for a spot at 3am. Elevators: So they're loud and shaky at times, but it gets me where I need to go. Dogs: You can hear them when you are in the halls at times, but I've never heard them while inside my apartment. The only time I hear anything is if someone is outside the apartment door. Also people don't clean up after their dogs a bunch, so be careful when you walk outside, but that's not the apartments fault. Laundry Room: it is kept clean, a few times I had dryers not work and it was a pain and time consuming. Also the fact that you can only full your laundry card during office hours, at the main office, is quite a pain in the ass, and very inconvenient. Hot water: at least once a month there is issues with the boiler... I hate waking up and having to take a cold shower before work. Cleanliness: the building is fairly clean, I think the lobby area could use a few new couches and a bit of an update. I have never had any issues with bugs or mice. The apartment itself: I have a one bedroom, it's a decent size. Only thing I don't like about it, is we have a dark brown carpet and you can see EVERYTHING on it. I literally have to vacuum every day. Also there are no screens in the windows. Not a huge deal, but a good thing to know. Hope this helps!

This is a great place to live in KC. It's got some problems. But if you can deal with limited street parking, faulty elevators, and a crummy boiler, this is honestly one of the best places in KC to live.
