I recently left the Village Gate after being there for seven months. The management team, maintenance team, and neighborhood are great. The location is surrounded by shopping, food, and highway 75. I lived on the first floor and I had a terrible experience with roaches! I saw the first roach in the kitchen two weeks into my lease. These unwanted pests continued and became even worse starting in March. I would see multiple roaches a week in every room. I would make a maintenance request and they would come out within a day or two, but nothing helped because the building is old and they were literally coming from inside the walls. I would have loved to stay in the apartment, but to pay almost $1200/month on a one-bedroom with roaches is ridiculous. I eventually had to pay a little over $1500 to get out of my lease, but it was worth it. If you're able to afford one of the more pricey Village apartment, do it.

The construction in the village right now is getting everywhere. It is loud during the day from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. you can hear the annoying sound of the big trucks so often. What's worse, it gonna take years for them to finish the project. The managers in the office is not very professional, they will tell you that they are gonna do something then completely forget about it. You'd email several times and expect no response from them. The only way is to call them or walk in and ask to speak with their manager. Its like saying "we have plenty of renters, we don't mind if you stay or not". The rent here is higher comparing to apts nearby, they will raise the rent or keep it the same during renewal even if the construction has caused so much inconveniences. We had been renters here for 4 years, it's sad to say this about a place we once loved. The only upside is the maintenance team who are always helpful and courteous.

Haven't even moved in yet and this place is already a nightmare. Posted an apt for $747 and then would not honor the price. Bait and switch operation being conducted here. Then after doing my due diligence to make sure all fees were transparent, I'm told that it is no longer the $50 admin fee I agreed to and was told to pay upon moving in, but it is now $100 per "a company policy." Unscrupulous and dishonest people at The Gate at The Village. Will be contacting BBB, TAA, and possibly a lawyer. Just despicable the way these apts act with zero regard for consequence of their horrendous actions. Update 1/24/18 So the unit I applied for finally became open so I could view. Despite being shown an apt with "similar" layout, per Jordan, I realize upon viewing this apt that the kitchen is HALF the size of the "similar" layout! I should also mention that the stove/oven in said apt was once in a Little House on the Prairie episode. Might as well have a wood burning stove/oven unit! Lauryn states she would talk to the general manager about possibly getting me a different unit at same cost, however 5mins after we left she left me VM saying no go. These people are something else. I cannot emphasize how deplorable the office people are in this community. Bait and switch the cost and the layout of unit, then when you call them on it, you get a middle finger and a take it or leave it attitude. 1yr and then I'm out. F**k The Gate at The Village!
