Looking for a guy who is interested in a sublet anytime from January through July 2022. The apartment is great, very spacious and was newly renovated a little over a year ago. All new refrigerator, freezer, bathroom, gas stove, oven, dishwasher, granite countertops, sinks, and wood flooring. I am looking to move out because I am graduating early. Would need first month's rent and deposit paid before you move in.
The unit is pretty spacious. I have one roommate who is a guy that attends OSU, studying Pharmacy. My room (which I will be leasing) has two medium sized closets with lots of space. There is also a pretty large cubby space you could use for storage or making a little hideout. The picture of the empty room I listed shows the size, as I will likely be moving my stuff out. However, if you are looking for a fully furnished bedroom, that is something we can discuss. We keep things pretty clean and wash our dishes so there are never any bugs, insects, or gross things. Nothing extreme, but once every two or three weeks we vacuum, Swiffer, and wipe down the bathroom.
There is central heating and a wall mounted unit for A/C and heating for the kitchen/living room. None of the utility costs are included in the rent, but that's something we can negotiate on if it's a deal breaker. For Wi-Fi, we have Spectrum at 50Mbps and it's been very reliable. Even when my roommate and I play video games or stream video at the same time, the performance is great. There are also windows in all the rooms with blinds. The windows are lockable. There is also a laundry room within the complex, one flight of stairs below our unit. They have two washers and two dryers, both take 4 quarters to use.
The location is excellent. The apartment is only a few buildings away from High Street, its about a 2 minute walk to get to the Starbucks. Across from the Starbucks is the landlord's (Pella Company) office. It takes 5 minutes to get from the apartment to the student union across the street. Street parking is available through the city for $25 a year. Our apartment also has a small parking lot in back, which you need a pass to use. My roommate and I have been sharing a pass, since you only get one per unit, but that is an option to share with him (we alternate every month). There are a lot of fraternity houses nearby, however the noise is not an issue at all. Our unit is at the back of the building and (surprisingly) I never hear music or loud cars.
I've also heard a lot of horror stories about landlords, but Pella has been very good so far. They are helpful to talk to, and they send people out right away the very few times we have had maintenance issues.
You may have safety concerns with off campus, but let me assure you, our apartment has been very safe. All of the residents are students and the doors leading to the apartments have electronic key pad locks. No one has had any packages stolen since the locks were installed. There has never been any trouble with break-ins either. The complex is located close enough to campus and High Street that there haven't been any crimes here, only further East of our location later at night. I have never had any problems in this area when it's dark out, but I am also not usually out very late at night. It also helps that the Columbus Police routinely station one or several cruisers on the corner of our street through the night.
If you do bring a car with you, just don't leave any valuables clearly visible inside it. Even the nicer cars have not been vandalized, stolen from... etc., only when people leave backpacks or laptops in them do windows get smashed. But this applies to anywhere in Columbus.
