Firstly, if you're interested, please email or message me here and share something personal about yourself and what you're looking for in a shared housing situation prior to scheduling a viewing, please and thank you!!
For rent:
Two (2) adjoining rooms (bedroom + office, pictured) in the rear of a 2br/1ba shared apartment in the heart of inner SE. Your roommate (me) occupies the two front rooms of the apartment. Your rooms + shared space + storage is ~450sq/ft. I am only looking for one person to rent these rooms, not a couple. Total price is $1050 plus utilities (~$75-100/month). Looking to get someone in by March 15 at the earliest, and May 1 at the latest.
You'd have a private back entrance with storage space, hardwood floors, two closets, shared bathroom with claw foot tub/shower & shared kitchen with gas stove, gas heated furnace in bedroom, on-site coin-op laundry. Room comes with like-new (1 year old) installable window A/C unit for summer. Mixed recycling on premises (no composting).
The building is a four-plex and neighbors are always respectful and quiet - there are no neighbors above or below this unit. Gated & covered front porch, plus locked+enclosed back porch (storage for you of ~50 sq/ft). Entrances and perimeter of building are gate locked and have security lighting on all sides. For safety, the apartment requires pin codes to access the property.
Landlord is a retired lawyer who you'll get to know by name and who maintains the building monthly. I will ask for a credit/background check on his behalf, all pretty standard stuff. I'd prefer someone who is looking for a year lease. If you are only needing the space for a few months, please be up front about that.
One of the best walk-able and bike-able locations in the city. Everything in the city is within 20 min drive. Within very easy walking distance of 40+ restaurants, coffee shops, food carts, and bars. 3-4 blocks from nearest walk-able grocery store. 10 minute bike ride from most places in downtown. Super accessible area for public transit/bus/e-scooters/city bikes.
Your roommate: 35 y/o male, I occupy the two rooms in the front of the apartment (not pictured). I currently work from home part-time while I explore a career transition. I spend a lot of time at home taking care of myself and my houseplant collection, occasionally playing music (guitar/e-drums - while respecting work/quiet hours), meditating, listening to music or podcasts, cooking, chilling, and will occasionally have my female partner over on some weeknights/weekends for meals.
I'm open, personable, easygoing, and am hoping to find someone that vibes and shares in living a mindful lifestyle. I keep things pretty low key these days and view home as a restorative place to rest, rejuvenate, and relax. I'd like to rent the space to someone who enjoys a tranquil environment to themselves and someone who appreciates an aware and conscientious roommate (me). The rooms I'm renting are semi-private and there is no overlapping shared communal space, aside from the kitchen/bathroom.
