Off campus housing for UWM can be found just north of downtown Milwaukee. Bike for only a few minutes and you can arrive right at the coast of Lake Michigan! UWM has some excellent academic programs, particularly their Architecture, Nursing, Business, Education, and Information Science departments. The professors are adept in their fields, and known for being dedicated to their students. The academic culture here is highly research-oriented, meaning students get lots of hands-on experience in their fields.

The most beloved and highly esteemed sports teams at UWM are The Badgers, one for football and the other for basketball. The games are always filled with excitement and cheer from UWM students. Of course, be sure not to miss out on the soccer games, either. They’re just as fun to watch (for free!)

Students here will venture out into Milwaukee’s rich nightlife on weekends, but during the week, most choose to study or participate in various clubs.

When to Search

Milwaukee may be a decent sized city, but two major Universities call this city home, making the renting market incredibly competitive. Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
