Archer Road Neighborhood Summary

Archer Road is located just Southwest of UF’s campus and is easily the center of off-campus activity for students. In fact, it seems to be the center of retail and dining for all of Gainesville. However, there are many student apartment buildings in this area and serves as the central area for off-campus partying. Of course, that doesn’t mean that no one else lives in the area. It gives young health professionals a centralized location to call home back and easy access to UF Health and VA Health. This neighborhood also has the highest concentration of shopping and food. Head over to Butler Plaza for all of the shopping and eating you can stand – over 100 actually –but keep in mind that you’ll mostly be enjoying chains. As far as transportation goes, Archer Road is much more friendly to drivers than walkers. The good news is that there is parking abound. Students renting in this area can enjoy a brief 10-minute drive to campus. No car? No worries. The bus provides easy mobility to and from campus.
