Metropolitan State University is a small public university located in urban St. Paul. Metro State has an outstanding accounting program and established one of the first business administration degrees in the state. Programs are known for being focused on real world experiences and preparing students for the workplace. The faculty is known for going out of their way to help students and showing deep compassion towards them.
The student body here is known for being down-to-earth kind of people who work hard and focus on their academics. Scheduling and other University amenities are largely targeted towards working adults, most of which leave to go home after their classes, meaning that campus culture is small and intimate compared to larger state schools. However, students sometimes flock to the surrounding dive bars or coffee shops to relax for a few hours.
Because of this school’s target audience, there is no Greek Life or varsity sports to participate in. However, there are quite a few club sports available for those who want to casually participate in recreational activities.
