San Bernardino is a large city that covers more than 81 square miles of the San Bernardino Valley. With over 209,000 people living there, it is a major inland Californian city. California State University, San Bernardino is the largest educational institution in the city, and is located in the northwest.

San Bernardino has struggled with severe poverty problems over the years, and was the largest city to ever declare bankruptcy in the country until Detroit was forced to do so in 2013. The University is a strong economic force in the region, and the largest employer. Other large employers are government agencies, such as the city itself, the Unified School District and the Sherriff's Department among others.

The standard California model is in place in San Bernardino. This means that freeways and the automobile are the focus of transportation, rather than mass transit. I-215 is a major north-south highways, and highway 210 runs east to west through the city. There is a public transportation system available, operated by Omnitrans, it is just not as well developed or as popular as what you see in many other cities.

Where to play

San Bernardino was actually the site of the very first McDonalds, and many people like to visit the location, although the building is long since demolished. The Bernardino National Forest is a nature lover's dream come true, and you can spend days exploring it. Some popular local bars include the South Side Saloon and Celebrities Sports Grill.
