Moreno Valley:
A Local Perspective

Moreno Valley was at one time a small city, but a rapid influx of growth started in the 1980s that has seen it grow to nearly 200,000 people. Although considered a separate city, Moreno Valley is part of the enormous metropolitan area that makes up the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Moreno Valley lies inland from the rest of L.A., and it's most dominant feature is the large Box Springs Mountain. From almost anywhere in the city, if you look to the northwest you can see the large dark mountain. The largest post secondary institution in the area is Moreno Valley College, a member of the Riverside Community Colleges District.
