Management: The most DISGUSTING management I have ever had to deal with. Kayla has no idea how to run a team and the entire association within the building is dysfunctional. They lie and deceive their tenants & have gotten into many law suit cases. If you are interested in pay lawyer fees due to their incompetence then JVT is the place for you. Otherwise I would never give them an ounce of your time or cent of your pay check. You will highly regret it. Not only is a bad complex one thing - but bad management is an entire different scenario.

The negatives: Well, just about everything else. I was in a newly updated unit that looked good in the spring before I toured it. My only concern was some stains I saw on the carpet in the bedroom (I couldn't see all of them because the bed was there). I was told not to worry that the carpets would be cleaned and replaced if need be. I took their word for it and signed the lease. BIG MISTAKE. I go to move in and the first thing I see is this gigantic stain in the bedroom with splatter all over. Keep in mind this was not small, just about 2 feet in length and about a foot wide with spatter. I called down to management and they came and looked at. They said carpet was cleaned and this remained. I told them that if the last tenant did this it should come put of there security deposit and be replaced. They said it was there before and they will not replace because it was rust stains. I asked from where and they said a leak in ceiling. That was a terrible answer. Long story short they lied to me and I had to buy a $200 area rug to make my bedroom look adequate. In terms of free heat it is technically "free", but when it is colder than 20 degrees outside you will be freezing. The draft from the windows in these old apartments is unbelievable. With central heat you have no control of it, so when it was above freezing outside you would have to keep windows open while you sleep in middle of winter. On top of that, everything breaks all of the time. I had at least 4 occasions when the lock on my own door would even get jammed and they had to come in the late evening to let me in. Nothing in the complex was of high quality. In terms of service in front office, I would always get different answers from different people. Very unorganized and they were generally unpleasant to talk to. There will also be a ton of bugs. I was on the 10th floor and I never understood how you can have so many bugs. It was kind of gross and frustrating. My apartment was kept very clean. My general advice is if you tour this place ask alot of questions and if you have concerns make them agree to fix them in writing before signing. If not, Katz Properties will make no effort to address them once you have signed.

The location is fantastic. You cannot find a better location downtown for the price. The pool is fantastic, with new grills and chairs, and street parking is plentiful. That is where the positives end. Let me just get this out of the way, STAY AWAY FROM KATZ PROPERTIES. They are one of, if not the worst, management company around. They are unhelpful and lack any kind of empathy when their tenants are in need of a fix (Or if they charge you for something and hang up after you explain that the charge was a mistake) Juneau Village towers is average. Twice I have had someone park in my spot, the first time they said oh we can't tow since the guy who tows in on vacation, so you'll have to find a new parking spot. The second time they towed the vehicle like their signs say they will. They also have cockroaches, and fail to keep a clean apartment. Their workout room has not had a working paper dispenser for MONTHS. The chairs on the roof are falling apart. All of this can be overlooked if not for the crappy attitude of the people in the office. Now there are some fantastic people who work there, I love interacting with them, but some of them, just stay away. Clearly, they do not want to hear any issue you have (And you'll know them when you talk to them). Oh, and when was the last time the elevators have been checked? They have no sign proving that they have been checked, and trust me, they feel like their seconds away from just snapping. Overall, my experience has been positive, just because I love to grill and walk downtown. My overall experience, past that, has been pretty bad. Never again will I rent a Katz property, and I would recommend everyone do the same. There is no reason to give your money to someone who doesn't care about their properties. The management here sucks, and I cannot wait to move, which is unfortunate, because I love living downtown.
