Really a great leasing management. Timely on communication and very fast to respond to repair needs. Very clean and updated apartments. Extremely fair on your security deposit return. I got almost all of it back except for minor repairs. Usually, landlords will charge you $100 for a small mark on the wall - not JEK. I really was so happy with them, and I have had at least 13 leasing managements in the past 10 years. JEK has been the best without doubt.

I've had similar problems to the ones already described only in addition I've had the cops come to my apartment twice and wrongly acuse me of disturbing the peace because of Jek. Monday morning at 7:30 am I was home alone feeding my baby when a cop buzzed the door to ask about a disturbance. I told him I hadn't heard anything and he left. Came home that night to a notice on my door from Jek saying they have had complaints about fighting in my apartment and if they got any more we would be served with a five day notice. I have a 9 month old baby, if my boyfriend and I have a disagreement we don't even raise our voices so I couldn't understand how this happened. I tried calling the police officer who responded but never got a call back. Last night my boyfriend and I were quietly watching TV when the cops knocked on our door. They had already been buzzed in. They said they were there about fighting, separated us and started giving us the third degree as though they arrived in the middle of a physical altercation. I kept telling them I didn't understand why they kept coming to our place, we were not fighting or being loud. Finally two neighbors came out of the building and told the cops it wasn't us and that the fight which was still in progress was happening on the other side of the building. After the cops left a downstairs neighbor apologized. He said he had called JEK originally to report loud fighting in the building but told them he didn't know which unit it was coming from. At that point someone at JEK suggested to him that it must be us and next time they call to just give our apartment number. JEK also went ahead and put that notice about complaints with a warning we could be evicted on our door based on the information that someone was fighting in the building even though the caller didn't know who it was. Other issues to consider before renting with JEK... If you sign a one year lease they will want to know if you are re-signing when you still have four months left and if you are not sure yet or don't sign again immediately they will put a notice on your door saying they are going to start showing your apartment tomorrow. They wanted to start showing our apartment in March when the lease wasn't up until July. Maintenence people are unprofessional fly by night types without uniforms who do loud work outside of regular construction hours. Anytime JEK has a small issue they'd like to remedy such as not leaving shoes on a mat outside your door they leave a notice on your door that threatens eviction. The following issues are specific to the Capitol View Terrace properties... They have installed these crappy fixtures in the bathroom sink that causes the water to come out in an extremely high pressure mist. As a result when you try to wash your hands the water bounces off and sprays everywhere even though there's barely enough to get them wet. The shower has the same issue. If you have long hair cut it now because you will never get the conditioner rinsed out again. Water heaters are set illegally hot. For many this may be a good thing but I'm not that crazy about the water getting hot enough to literally burning me in the shower when someone else flushes a toilet in the building. So many other things I would like to add. I may update this post later.
