I have rented with Rich for several years, and am only moving now because I got a job in another city. Rich is a great landlord, helpful and friendly. Our apartment was left in a pretty bad state by the previous tenants, but the cleaning staff did a great job restoring it to an acceptable level of cleanliness. My roommates and I have friends who also rent from Lofgren Properties, and we all agree it's a great rental situation for graduate students. Maintenance requests are dealt with promptly and without fuss. This is a smaller rental company, so things are a bit less formal than if you rent from, say, MPM which owns half the rentals in town. Rent rates are very reasonable, especially for the great location. Plus, Rich approved my dog for our apartment. It's pretty difficult to find a place downtown that allows dogs that isn't either extremely pricey or extremely rundown. What we ended up with is nicely in between. Our place is not new or fancy, but it's perfectly suitable for this phase of life and we've really enjoyed living here. I'd recommend renting from Rich to anyone.

I've rented from Lofgren for 2 years. They are always very responsive to maintenance requests, and are one of the few property management companies that will let me have my dog in their apartments. Although the buildings are older, they are in good repair. Reasonable rent for living in downtown Madison.

As student landlords go in Madison these guys are the best. Reasonable security deposits prompt response to problems with the property and generally well kept facilities. Coin laundry was annoying but clean and cheap compared to the Laundromat down the street. They were hands-off landlords but not inattentive and impossible like the larger commercial property managers. All around a good renters experience without spending too much money.
