The Galaxie was a nice apartment compared to the college style apartments in town, but it had a lot of flaws. Our apartment was never lived in before but already had A LOT of things wrong/broken such as appliances, dents on the walls/ floors/ ceilings. The curtains also did very little to block out any light so forget sleeping in. Management was often slow about responding to requests, and it could take multiple times contacting them for an issue to be resolved. The layout of the building was not very organized either, but that is a flaw we were aware of ahead of time. What we didn't know with the layout was that our air would not ventilate throughout the entire apartment very well and one room would often get a majority of the airflow. Being able to watch the games and concerts from the balcony was a big plus and being above a grocery store was very convenient. Over all a decent apartment building, but not worth the rent.

It was a very nice place to live for a few years, with great views , a convenient location (right above a grocery store!), and good amenities. The rooftop terrace was fantastic. A lot of the apartments have super weird layouts, though, and the parking and generally getting around the building is very confusing. Also, super thin walls. But, overall, a very nice place to live.

I love my apartment but it is overpriced. it is annoying that there are only 2 small elevators and no freight elevator making moving large object in and out difficult. would be nice if there were more businesses on site that are geared towards tenants. parking garage is a disaster with regard to Festival claiming so much space parking should be first come first served.

We have really enjoyed living in this building and we signed a lease for another year. Pros: -Great location close to downtown and above a grocery/liquor store -Nice rooftop deck with gas grills to use -Community room with TVs that is rentable for parties -You can hear/see concerts for free -Nice open concept apartments with floor to ceiling windows -Large balcony with views of sunsets and lake -Very responsive management. Eric has always been quick to respond and very kind -Management holds building get togethers for residents -Residents get early bird access to concert tickets at Breese -Dogs allowed:) Always get to see a smiley dog face in the elevator Cons: -Small gym for the size of building with not enough machines -Difficult to easily get to the other tower and the gym -Walls are not very sound proof -Cannot access stairs from 1st floor -Slow elevators or maybe not enough Overall, I have really enjoyed living here. Nice accommodations for the price and location. I heard we are getting garden plots this spring! (I don't know many building that do that and it is an awesome feature to have) I would and have recommended to friends.

Living at Galaxie has been positive and a great experience. Pros: -Great location. Close to the lakes. Close to downtown -Having a grocery store with fresh food downstairs is a big plus. -Very secured building -Views of both Lakes are really amazing -Maintenance crew are doing a wonderful job, always being fast and on time with maintenance issues. Special thanks to Eric for his efforts. Cons: -I think it deserves more than two elevators with such a giant building, especially when one of them stops working occasionally. -There needs to be better organization for the packages that are delivered and left to pick up on the 1st floor.

I have really enjoyed living here so far. The views are unbeatable, and I love being close to downtown. The convenience of having a grocery store downstairs is also a plus. However, the elevators can be frustratingly slow and stop working frequently.

We have enjoyed living at the Galaxie over the last 1 year. Most apartments in this building have a unique floor plan and after looking at about 10-15 apartments, we settled on our current 2BR 2BA apartment which we really like. The views of Lake Mendota from the balcony are simply amazing and we have enjoyed many beautiful sunsets here. Our living room and two bedrooms all have floor to ceiling windows all with beautiful views of Lake Mendota. Having festival foods on site is extremely convenient. Festival foods is open from 5 am to 12 am and has fresh produce available at all times. it also has a large liquor store with wine, beer etc. available from 8a to 9p. Bike parking in the building is covered an plentiful. The capitol city trail passes just up the street from the building and is very convenient for bike commuting. These factors have really helped me in maintaining a healthy lifestyle during my time here. As many have pointed out, the building is not without some significant problems. Some of the things that have really bothered us during our time here 1. Asking for lease renewal 6 months in advance. I have lived in many different parts of the US including some extremely ruthless rental markets like Boston and NYC. Asking for a lease renewal 6 months in advance is a feature unique to Galaxie apartments in my experience. If Galaxie wants tenants to sign longer leases, they should just ask for a 2 year lease upfront. Disrupting peoples lives with multiple showings 6 months prior to the end of the lease is completely unacceptable. 2. The fire alarm. This goes off at unpredictable times in the absence of any fires. We have been forced to drag ourselves out of bed on to the curb on more than one occasion. These events are usually followed by a generic mass email apologizing for the inconvenience. At a minimum, Galaxie should take $100 off the rent for hours of sleep lost and the impact on next day's work. To be fair, the frequency of false alarms has gone down over the last few months. But again, this is summer and per the management, moisture and cold trigger false alarms. So it remains to be seen how many times it'll go off in the coming winter months. 3. There was mass flooding in the building at one point involving 4-5 floors. I'm not sure about the origin of the flood but it doesn't reflect well on the quality of the construction. It took up about 3-4 hours of our time and would have done a lot more damage had we not been at home. However, the response of the maintenance staff on that day was exemplary and they did all they could to clean up our apartment and we cannot thank them enough for that. 4. Two elevators for this giant building reflects some lack of foresight among the planners. Conclusion: Despite its problems, I feel the benefits of living at Galaxie have outweighed the problems and I would recommend people to live here. This is our second year living here and an overwhelming majority of our time here has been wonderful.

I've loved living here! The parking isn't so bad if you do the residential deal (don't park between 8-5 pm on weekdays and it's only $65!) Rent is pretty pricey, but I love the view, the security, and the gym! Management is very accommodating. I honestly have no complaints-- it's the best apartment I've ever lived in!
