University of Florida

University of Florida (UF) is a large state University located in suburban Gainesville, a college town surrounded by beautiful nature preserves. UF has top programs in Engineering, Agriculture, Business, and Law. There are a wide variety of professors here who utilize many different teaching styles. Regardless, all of the programs at UF are known to be academically challenging. The University has been ranked one of the Top 50 Educational Institutions in the country.

When students aren’t studying, they’re having a ton of fun. Partying is alive and well at UF no matter what day of the week. Whether you’re crashing house parties, going to a campus event, or heading out for a night on the town, there’s always something to do after classes. The student body here is anxious to make new friends, so don’t be afraid to just start introducing yourself to people! Greek Life is popular, with about 15% of the students being involved in some sort of Greek organization. Though the Greeks certainly throw parties, they also do a lot of community service and help students network.

Sports are a huge part of the campus social life at UF. All teams compete in Division I and are renowned across the country for their athletic talents. The Gators football team attracts many students to their games in The Swamp, the loving name given to the University stadium. Football season riles up the most school spirit and sparks many parties across campus and beyond. Basketball is also beloved. This school is known for absorbing its students into the sports culture, even if you’re not a sports person.

When to Search

UF students must compete with their peers and Santa Fe students for an apartment, so it’s essential to begin your search as soon as you’re able. This is especially important if you’re looking for an undergrad-friendly apartment complex or home. Most students begin browsing for apartments in November, though the search tends to peak around May. Many students are starting to sign their leases around this time.
