Ohio Dominican University

ODU’s campus is in the East Columbus and North Central Columbus neighborhoods; neither of which are very safe. The safest communities in the city are located in the middle of the city; for example, the neighborhoods north and immediately south of downtown. The areas near Dublin and Northwest Columbus also have low crime rates, but Northeast, even though its closer to campus, has higher crime. If you want to stay close to campus while living in a safe area, I would recommend checking out Parks Mills, which is three miles north of ODU. ODU’s campus sits four miles northeast of downtown Columbus, which gives students close access to the city’s cultural offerings. There are museums and theater venues for art lovers, professional hockey games at the Nationwide Arena and college sports matches at the Ohio State University (OSU), and everything in between. OSU is five miles away from ODU and always hosts parties and college events on the weekends. ODU’s campus is smaller and doesn’t have as much going on, but with so much happening in the city around it, students will never run out of things to do.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
