Many sports teams, including the Carolina Panthers, call Charlotte, North Carolina home. Sporting events are very popular here. Through the year, many events occur, like the Carolina Gator Gumbo, the Queen City Brewers Festival and the Food Lion Speed Street, featuring live music and activities celebrating motor sports, with appearances by NASCAR drivers and show cars on display. On July 4th at Memorial Stadium, a giant fireworks display begins at 9:30pm following family-friendly events and music. In August, the Matthews Alice! festival, about 10 miles from Charlotte, has nearly 200,000 guests show up to listen all kinds of live music, engage in arts and crafts, and donate to a good cause. First Night is the annual New Year’s Eve celebration full of art, culture, magicians, and more.

To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
