I graduated in 1969 and at the time Macalester College was one of the best of any small liberal arts colleges in the country....
I graduated in 1969 and at the time Macalester College was one of the best of any small liberal arts colleges in the country. I majored in art and was lucky enough to have Anthony Caponi as my advisor. Macalester was a stellar school then but now it is on par with Carlton and IMHO shares Carlton's reputation as the Harvard of the Midwest. The over 300 million Dollar endowment from DeWitt Wallace certainly gave Macalester a boost as it would have any college, however, there was/is something about Macalester's stellar foreign student exchange program and its many other programs and departments that made it special and does so to this day.

I can't say enough about this wonderful College that educated my beautiful daughter, 1996 graduate. I was proud when she was admitted and still am today as I realize her education was both academic and social. Her Mac. Education in English/Writing and Psychology served her well in Graduate School at the University of Denver where she received a doctorate Psychology. She is well educated and a responsible human being thanks to Macalester.
Macalester is in a great location. I love the atmosphere that the students and staff bring to campus
