I've lived at Cortland Pond for about three years now and it's been great. The apartment is in good repair, and the three or four times I've needed maintenance in the past three years they've responded very quickly. My interactions with management have been limited (office hours are pretty much contained within standard working hours, and this isn't the place to go for community events), but the interactions I've had have been prompt and courteous. Plus it's super quiet (at least in my apt, which granted is top floor and pretty far from any road). Before moving here I did quite a lot of research comparing pretty much every available apartment complex on the far west side, and this was the one that met all my requirements (spacious, open layout, great location, good repair, underground parking, safe) while still being very affordable. You won't get the luxury you will at some of the pricier options in the area, but I'll take the couple hundred dollars a month in place of things like granite counter tops or a second swimming pool.

Aging apartments with noisy neighbors and thin walls. Double standards on nonsmoking and noise complaints. Didn't feel like home when issues were ignored or dismissed by management. A lot of money is spent on keeping the grass green, the pool clear, and the club house shiny (and locked), and little invested into the units (i.e. carpeting, fixtures).
