Over the past 30 years I have lived in a variety of environments: Short term and long, condo and rental, in multiple states, on several continents, extended-stay hotels, corporate housing, courtyard, luxury high-rise, and multi-week rentals thru AirBnB in the USA and abroad. One might say that I have a wide range for comparison.
I moved into a Redel Rentals property two years ago. The staff continues to impress. Redel is easily one of my best living experiences to date.
Staffing is the difference between a good property and a better property. Members of the Redel team consistently perform well. For example, when I ordered new furniture, delivery happened on a weekday. The Redel team arranged for the items to be taken to my unit while I was at work. No need for special arrangements to pick things up at the management office after hours. Much appreciated.
Repair and service requests are handled via email. When I email a service request, I always receive a reply within a few hours, and always with a proposed range of times for the service to happen.
One complaint: Rent is still paid by paper check. Online payments would be quicker. Upside: The management baton has been passed to the second generation of family ownership. Young people love to out-perform their parents, so advancements are likely to happen soon.
Bottom line: If you're in the market for a secure, well-located unit in a vintage building with a professional staff, take a look at Redel Rentals.

I lived at 4340 S. Drexel during the late 80's and still have family and friends who live there currently. I found the management to be especially responsive. If there was a problem with plumbing or an appliance, we received an immediate callback and the issue was corrected. The building is and has been well maintained both inside and out. Entrances and hallways are always clean, fresh and well lit; the lawn well manicured. In the six years that I lived on the property there was only one incident with pests-when my elderly next door neighbor moved out and her apartment was being renovated. Exterminators were called and we never had a problem again. Considering the building's proximity to The Loop, public transportation and available on street parking, it's an excellent rental choice for a young professional.

I posted this review a while ago somewhere else, and because I still stand by this, I am posting it again. I am now a twelve year tenant of this Redel Rentals property. My apartment is comfortable, attractive and spacious and I love my hardwood floors.
The building is a well maintained, peaceful residence with tidy front and rear entrances as well as an attractive, well kept exterior. The services here are excellent, with garbage pick up throught the day and regularly scheduled extermination. We also enjoy a clean, adequate laundry facility conveniently located on the premises. Management is diligent in securing the building with a 24hr. monitoring system to insure the safety of all residents. Any problems reported within or around the building are promptly attended to by the management. I especially enjoy the ideal location of this building with its convenient access to downtown, either by car or public transportation. Needless to say, I am a very satisfied resident.

I lived here for about a year right after graduating from college in 2012 in a studio. They have the biggest studios in the area because of the layout. I had a big closet, which I used to put a twin size bed in. Management was very nice and accommodating and the upkeep of the grounds is beautiful. Any time I needed something minor done in the apartment, they were available, very good radiator heat, and the building is really quiet! I work 2 jobs and came home very late in the evening, without any problems. The only reason I moved is because I wanted a larger space and the building did not have a elevator. If you like vintage buildings, this is the place for you. Very affordable rent with top of the line friendly service.
