They have Michigan sour cherry pie and that's my favorite so they get five stars. However they also get five stars because they are that good. Lots of options other than pie, tomato soup is my favorite for lunch (or dinner), and it is a great place to hangout/study/work/drink coffee.

Tho I bake my famous apple pie using lard to make the crust, and they use shortening, theirs is nice too. I especially enjoyed the great service and comfortable, laid back atmosphere. I just need to get my book published so that I can get out of the rutt of being the starving artist and spend more money trying out many of their other signiture, mouth - watering concoctions. They are A-OK in my opinion. You should sit down for a cuppa Java brew and pie while you watch the locals stroll down Ashland Ave and Balmoral, which is quite pleasant.

I ordered a cup of coffee (it's Colectivo) and a slice of pie (French Silk). The coffee was good and the pie, too, and I've also had their pecan, sour cherry, and chocolate cream pies. However, I recently found out they use Crisco and Corn Syrup in some of their pies, so I'm docking a star. (And I do think their pies are too sweet, anyway.) Not saying I won't be back, but I just won't be back as often.

All of your purchases contribute to their mission, feeding the hungry. Every meal you buy means a meal to someone in need. Even the name means giving, instead of providing the poor with crumbs, they should get the First Slice. Pies are fantastic and the lemon hearts are a special favorite.

Second of all, their actual food (salads, wraps, etc) is also pretty decent. The food isn't super filling but it's definitely enough to satiate your hunger, especially when you also get dessert.
