The end, or beginning if you want to look at it that way, of the Brown Line on the subway is about a ten minute walk south of NPU’s campus. There are two stops you can walk to: Kimball and Kedzie-Brown. And if you’re commuting to the school via the train, you should get off at either of those stops. There are around seven or so stops that surround the campus for buses 82, 92, and 93. That’s essentially all there is for public transportation, but I think it’s more than enough if you’re willing to take the bus or the train every day. You know that the NPU campus has terrific access to outdoor recreation when it has a park on its campus. The Chicago River actually cuts through the middle of the campus, and along its banks is Kiwanis Park, a place where students can sit and study, spend time with friends, or jog. Look a little further and you’ll find River Park, Legion Park, Hollywood Park, and the Eugene Field Park, all within walking distance. I think that it’s critical to have open outdoor spaces near you where you can exercise or relax, especially in a large city like Chicago. That’s why I’m pleased to say that students at NPU and nearby NIU have plenty of parks at their fingertips.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
