Current resident here - I live in a one-bedroom apartment with my boyfriend. We were initially really attracted to the big kitchen, living room, and bedroom and were pleased with the space in the apartment. We later found out that the majority of the residents are not college students (which we actually appreciate) and are really quiet. We have a screened in patio and are happy with the apartment itself. The manager and the caretakers are also really friendly and professional. There is a monthly potluck and jigsaw puzzle areas, along with a pool room and sauna--albeit only 4 ft deep pool. It is typically empty and a really relaxing swim. We also get our packages delivered to our apartment by the office staff, or they will hold them in the office, which is really nice.
However, we've lived here for three months now and have encountered some issues that are really bringing down this rating. The first thing we noticed is that we were treated very differently between when we were applying and touring, and after we moved in. I hate to point a digital finger at an employee, but we have been treated as though we do not matter and what we say doesn't matter by Becky. She was very nice at the beginning, but now every time we step into the office, we feel as though we are bothering her based on her tone and attitude when talking with her. She has actually argued with my boyfriend in front of the manager and the manager had to step in and settle things. Also when we ask her for things (bee spray, refunding us for errors with the laundry machines), she has forgotten and we've had to ask again or ask others. There was an issue that I needed to ask 4 times for something from her and another person. She's there to help out residents, and my boyfriend and I shouldn't feel as though we can't ask for help or feel that nothing will come out of us asking.
Another thing is that we had a major problem with bees getting into our patio during the warm months, which made the patio completely unusable. We asked management to take care of it (given that one of us is allergic to bees and it was ridiculous to have a screened in patio with bees). They did all kinds of spraying, but the bees came back despite this. We definitely appreciate their initial efforts, but after a few weeks of it, we were told that "it'll get cold soon, so it won't be a problem anymore." This was no help considering there were still a few weeks left of warm weather and that ONE OF US IS ALLERGIC TO BEES. I have no doubt the bees will be back in the spring/summer and we will have to go through the cycle again.
Also, leaf-blowing at 8 or 8:30 in the morning is really quite unnecessary.
We really do love the apartment itself, it's just an employee that is making the complex less enjoyable. As someone who works in a customer service setting, I am really appalled at Becky's behavior towards my boyfriend and myself, and wholeheartedly recommend some changes toward her professionalism and approach towards customers. I hope management reads this and implements some changes, as this review is trying to be as helpful as possible to both management and prospective residents.
