A Local Perspective

Youngstown is a city that has done an excellent job of bringing itself back from the brink. When the bottom fell out of the steel industry, many cities felt the pressure, including Youngstown. However, the city did not falter for as long as some cities. It maintained what it could of its steel industry while quickly finding ways to branch out into other sectors to keep its residents employed.

Youngstown State University is the primary post-secondary school in the Youngstown area. YSU is home to more than 13,000 students every year. The University is also home to some of the most well known attractions in town, including the Butler Institute of American Art.
