I recently applied for income based housing at Madison Square Apartments in Odessa Tx. I applied in May, my application was approved and I gave my $450.00 deposit immediately. I had to supply my most recent check stubs and all proof of income and was told at the time of my move-in date I would have to supply them again to maintain my status. I was not told or shown when I anxiously accepted the apartment that my deposit was nonrefundable after 72 hours. This week was supposed to be my move-in date and I have been trying to update everything for the last week. I gave all my stubs and was suddenly found as lacking 500.00 per month in order to be approved for the apartment. So I turned in stubs for a 2 nd part time job that I work mainly during the summer. I originally told Brittany about the other job and she said that since the job was only part time seasonal that it wouldn't count so there was no need to turn in the stubs. She also told me in the very beginning that I could use residual school funds as part of my income. After reviewing the paper work Brittany told me that I wasn't allowed to use my school residual check as income. Ultimately, I did have to turn in the stub from my second job but it was only 1 weeks worth and she said it wasn't long enough employment. I have 1 more check coming through from the second job but since I have not been paid yet a stub can't be generated. The woman over payroll was nice enough to manually enter what my pay for my incoming check will be and included a ytd but it is estimated because there is no official stub yet. Now Brittany is telling me that the apartment I've been waiting for is $1140.00 a month but is still considered income based. I simply can't afford that amount. So I called to reclaim my deposit and am being told I can't get it back. This process has been a nightmare. Brittany has always been unpleasant to speak to and they are very unorganized. Even though I updated my phone number she still continued to call the old one because she had not updated her ledger. She and another girl that work there both got my move in date wrong on multiple occasions. It was pushed back also because the contractor was running behind. It is highly unethical to withhold a deposit after so much misinformation especially after trying to price gouge a future tenant who has already been determined as low-income. So now at this point because of all of this mess I am without an apartment and down $450.00 and all of my things are already packed and ready to move in. I want my deposit back! This is a bate and switch strategy. I was told several different versions of financial qualifications by Brittany during this whole process. Now I am completely screwed. Stay away from this complex. Unfortunately I know many more people will get screwed over because of the way the housing is in this area.

!!! Stay away from this property !!! First of all the whole building is very old, I stayed there for 5 months only, it was horrible experience, prices are very high with low quality service, the furniture was ancient like 100 years old and I asked them to change the refrigerator, which was leaking, they refused, the staff are bunch of liars they said if you clean the apartment as you move out you gonna get your deposit back, but they cheated me and I got nothing. Disgusting
