I love living at LC Hamburg Farms. Overall my experience there has been great, with a few minor drawbacks.
Pros: Location. It is right in Hamburg. I am able to walk to Meijer, the movie theatre, and quite a bit of shopping. The surrounding area also feels very safe and I don't worry about walking around at night. The townhouse I live in is beautiful, with more than enough room for all of mine and my roommates furniture. I enjoy that the main entertaining areas are on a separate floor than the bedrooms, it allows for a lot more privacy. I also love that each unit includes it's own washer and dryer, and that both work really well and can handle a regular size load of laundry. I like living in such a pet friendly community, though I do wish there was more enforcement of picking up after pets (though doggie bags and trash containers are provided so that's really more of a complaint of residents). The apartments are definitely soundproof, I can't hear anything going on in my neighbor's apartment and I've never gotten any noise complaints about ours. Maintenance responds to complaints quickly, usually within 24 hours. Everyone in the front office is very friendly and helpful, willing to answer questions or make replacement keys when I need them to. The pool is really nice and there are lots of lounge chairs and plenty of outdoor space surrounding it, which is good because it gets crowded during the summer.
Cons: It is expensive. Rent is higher than some complexes in Lexington, but that is the downfall to living in the Hamburg area. I know that I couldn't afford it without a roommate and sometimes it is tough with one. Definitely make sure you have the budget to live here before investigating. Parking is limited around the apartments. Though we have a garage and there is a space behind it, guest parking is spread out and sometimes hard to find. We also aren't allowed to park on the concrete pad next to our apartment, though that would be a convenient extra space. It's also difficult to arrange parking when mine and my roommate's schedules vary. It would be nice to have 2 official parking spaces (instead of one in the garage and one behind the garage) for a 2 bedroom, but that is nitpicking. It can also be frustrating that there is no bathroom on the main floor, you either have to go up or down stairs to go to the bathroom. Also, when we moved in the shower pressure in each bathroom was weak and both shower heads had to be replaced (which maintenance did quickly). All mail delivery is in the main building, with the exception of packages. Some are delivered to the front office, but others are left on the doorstep, which makes me nervous (especially when I've ordered something expensive). The fitness center also has only a few pieces of cardio equipment and can get very crowded in the evenings.
Overall I highly recommend LC Hamburg Farms, all of my complaints are minor things that would probably be an issue at any apartment complex in Lexington. If you can afford the rent and don't mind some of the smaller things, it is definitely a great place to live.
