I normally dont leave reviews, but I feel that I need to for this location. I am going to try to be as fair as possible with the pros and cons Ive experienced so far. I have been living here for 6 months.
Pros:
- .8 mile walk to campus
- Right in downtown close to shops/ restaurant
- Staff and maintenance are both very helpful and friendly. They get requests done quickly and always answer the phone.
- Nice lamanent floors in living room and kitchen
- Water, Electric, cable, washer and dryer included in rent
- Bus 46 comes frequently to and from campus
- Office puts on plenty of social and workout events throughout the month for anyone interested in meeting new people. Many times they have free food!
Cons:
- Walls are EXTREMELY thin. I wake up many nights to the sound of my neighbor, whom Ive never met, snoring. Its very irritating and kind of makes me uncomfortable knowing we sleep inches apart from each other.
- Can hear people walking and moving furniture above if you are not on the top floor
- Cant move beds away from wall if noise is an issue
- Internet is extremely spotty and frustrating to connect to if you use an Xbox or PS4. You cannot fix internet issues on your own because you dont have access to the router.
- They empty out dumpsters during the morning/day right in front of apartment windows which is VERY loud and disruptive
- My room smelled like faint cigarettes and the carpets were dingy when I moved in even though smoking is prohibited so they had to pressure clean them and I buy candles to mask the smell now.
- The apartment comes furnished, but the living room has two small sofas. One is a sofa that you can not lie down on (I am 51), and the other is a sofa seat for one person. Both are uncomfortable and dated.
- Walk to apartment from parking garage is inconvenient. You have to park on levels 1-4 in the parking garage then walk to your apartment building and either climb the stairs or take the elevator to your floor (I am on floor 4 so the walk is an extra 5 mins) This can be very annoying if you have groceries to bring up and cant do it in only one trip.
- The call box in my building has been broken since I got there so if anyone visits I have to go all the way down to the first floor to open the gate to let them up.
- Cable is included in rent, but I was told my apartment was out of range when I couldnt pick up channels so they suggested I buy a TV box ($30-$80). I did not buy one.
Overall, it is a liveable location for what you pay for. If you are a noise sensitive I would HIGHLY reccomend to look elsewhere since there is no way around that problem beyond wearing headphones with music to bed.
