There are no words to describe how awful of an experience we have had since moving in. We have had issues nonstop. This started with small things like not being able to get our mail keys for 3 weeks after moving in, giving us someone else’s assigned parking spot, selling us a “newly renovated” apartment that is in extremely poor condition. We moved from Florida and signed the lease based off pictures (which we didn’t get of our actual unit until we were literally on our 2nd day of driving to Utah). Upon moving in, we had neighbors that chain smoked out on their balcony of our “non-smoking” apartments. If it was during the day, I’d occasionally open the windows when the weather was nice and we would get a nice gust of cigarette smoke. During the night, we’d get to hear them open/close their sliding glass door to have a smoke every hour or so. We brought it to the leasing office and they told me they thought they saw them smoking before too and that they would handle it. It continued until they finally moved out months later. Nothing was handled but it was just something my husband and I learned to live with. Now we have new neighbors and I AM DONE always having to be the tenant making exceptions for inconsiderate neighbors. Walls are thin, you’re going to hear things occasionally, I get that. But our neighbor now is up all night yelling, cursing, constantly talking from 11pm-4am every. Single. Night. We are going into the 3rd week of them living there and nothing is being done by management. My husband and I have had to sleep in the guest bedroom we use for storage just to get a couple hours of sleep. We ended up dragging our mattress out to the living room last night and still could hear them so loud we didn’t get ANY sleep at all. After talking with the leasing office last week (for the 2nd time), it turns out there is someone living there who wasn’t even on the lease.... they said they would serve a 3 day compliance letter to them and then take legal action. Either they haven’t served them with anything or the neighbors or not complying. Oh. And my options are either to pay 4 MONTHS rent to get out of my lease when that is what we have left on our lease term anyways, or we can move all of our stuff to a different unit... because they have to “keep things uniform across the board and do the same thing for every situation”. Well, based on all of the other horrible reviews about management not handling complaints, I’d say you’re doing an excellent job at being consistent. I would never recommend this complex to anyone and will go out of my way to share my experience with as many people as I can. Why are you making exceptions for every tenant BREAKING the lease agreement and making it so hard on the ones that are paying on time, following the rules and trying to just have a decent place to live. You are only attracting more of what you don’t want.
