Find a Radford Apartment

Radford is a small, unassuming city of 16,000 in Virginia. It is the home of Radford University, an institute with nearly 10,000 students enrolled. The school offers classes in more than 100 disciplines, and is also one of only eight universities in the state that offers PhD level degrees.

Radford was founded on its location because of the New River. It was a natural meeting place for travellers, and the town experienced a boom once the railroad came through. Glencoe Museum is a house that is nearly 150 years old that has been converted into a local museum. The house is now a repository for artifacts that tell the story of local history, including the native American history of the area from before the European settlers came to Radford. The Museum is a nationally registered historic place.

When to Search

Summer is the prime time to apply for apartments in Radford. Students fill many of the rental suites, so the best time to shop is when the students are leaving town. This means that June and July are the months to focus on apartment search on. August isn't bad either, but as the end of the month approaches you will find the new crop of students snapping up every apartment in sight.

Staying in the Know

Don't rush when you fill out your application. In most cases, landlords are going to get more than one application for a given apartment. When they see applications that are filled out incorrectly or incompletely, they may simply throw them in the trash in favor of the applications that were filled out properly.

Where to play

If you enjoy sports, the Radford University Highlanders are competitive in many sports with both men's and women's teams.
