A Local Perspective

Pullman is a city in eastern Washington. With a population of fewer than 30,000, the city is small by most measures. It is to a large degree, a college town, with Washington State University perched atop what is known as College Hill. WSU is an accomplished academic school, recognized for excellence in many areas. It is also a fierce athletic school, as a Division 1 Pac-12 competitor.

Pullman is located in rolling, hilly land, with four large hills within the city itself. The country surrounding the city is largely devoted to agriculture. Lentils are an important local crop, so much so that for more than 25 years, the National Lentil Festival has been held in Pullman.
