A Local Perspective

Pocatello is a thriving small city in Idaho. Located in southeastern Idaho, the city of 55,000 people is a booming community that has proven an excellent home base for many small businesses. Young people also find Pocatello a great place to get established in a new career. The main campus of Idaho State University is located in Pocatello.

Native peoples settled the site of present-day Pocatello well before white settlers arrived in the area. When word got out that gold has been found in Idaho however, there was a rush of Europeans to the area, including the group that settled Pocatello. Enough settlers came to the area in 1860 that a town sprang up over the course of the next 20 years.
