Morehead is a small college town in northeast Kentucky. Only about 6,900 people actually live in the quiet little city. Although it might seem a sleepy little town now, it wasn't always that way. At one point in time it was the main site of the Rowan County War, which was an intense three-way feud that seized the area for several years.

There is a small technical college in the city, but by far the largest educational institution is Morehead State University. This school was founded in 1887 and enrolls 11,000 students. The school has a significant athletic program and competes as the Morehead State Eagles in the Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Phil Simms, former New York Giants Quarterback is an alumnus of the program.
