Morehead is a small college town in northeast Kentucky. Only about 6,900 people actually live in the quiet little city. Although it might seem a sleepy little town now, it wasn't always that way. At one point in time it was the main site of the Rowan County War, which was an intense three-way feud that seized the area for several years.

There is a small technical college in the city, but by far the largest educational institution is Morehead State University. This school was founded in 1887 and enrolls 11,000 students. It is also a major employer in the area, with more than 1,400 people working there. The school has a significant athletic program and competes as the Morehead State Eagles in the Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Phil Simms, former New York Giants Quarterback is an alumnus of the program.

Watching the Morehead State Eagles play is a favorite local recreation option. The Fuzzy Duck is a popular local coffee shop. There are wineries and golf courses in the area that make for a beautiful weekend outing. There is also a great selection of trails in the Morehead area, so biking and hiking are great ways to enjoy your free time.
