Find a Millersville Apartment

Millersville is a very small city by any measurement, with less than 8,000 people being counted as citizens during the last census. The town site sprung up around a crossroads that was historically where many of the goods from outlying communities came to on their way to Lancaster City. The town draws its name from John Miller, the man who owned the farmland on the site where the town now sits.

Millersville is also home to Millersville University. The University was founded as a Normal School in 1855, and has since grown to a Liberal Arts University with more than 7,400 students enrolled. Of those students, more than 2,000 of them live on campus, and roughly 5,000 live at home. However this still leaves many that need to find off-campus housing in the Millersville Area.

When to Search

The rental-housing situation in Millersville is a little tighter than in the majority of the country. In order to find a suitable rental apartment, you should start looking in April, May or June. These tend to be the months with the highest turnover, which means you'll have more options to shop through.

Staying in the Know

Millersville is a small town, so making a first impression not just on your landlords, but on the entire town is important. When you come to town to look for an apartment, present yourself neatly and professionally to everyone you meet. You might be surprised at how word gets around if you pay a visit to a town of this size and party the nights away when on an apartment hunting trip.

Life in Millersville

Transportation

With fewer than 8,000 people, Millersville doesn't take up a lot of room, and most people can get around on foot without too many problems. If you're looking for a warmer way to get around during the winter months, the University provides a bus service that is free to students and faculty.

Where to play

Although the town is small, the support for the Miller University Athletics program is huge. Make sure to check out a Marauders game during your time in town. The George Street café makes delicious food from scratch, and is close by the University. Millersville is located in Lancaster County, and getting out of town to explore the nearby historic towns and rolling countryside is a beautiful way to spend a relaxing afternoon.
