I stayed here for a year and it was the worst year of my life so far. I stayed in the 1414 building. The building smelled of trash 364/365 days. Trash disposable is horrible and the chute it is right at the entrance of the building, very near to the elevators. I was at the 8th floor, so it was nightmare getting in and out of the building. The smell was even worse on summer weekends as they will not remove the trash over the weekends and it will smell horrible. I have photographic evidence of trash being overfilling out of the chute that causes this smell. The staff (Manager - Samantha) disagrees to this, they say that the trash is cleared out multiple times every day and also over the weekends, which is a blatant lie!
The elevators also don't work most of the times and imaging walking up to the 8th floor after a tiring day at work!
The water was unclean. The water was clearly yellow in color many times. I did complain to the staff about it and they said its the city water that is dirty. I inquired with the city and also checked with neighboring communities and they did not say there was any problem with the water. When I confronted with the staff about this, they were rude and said that they were busy and I need to get an appointment to talk to them about this. Even after taking an appointment, the best response I got was that they are aware of the problem and working to fix it. Even after months, the water was still dirty. No other apartment complex, for example, our next door neighbor - Arbor Court, also our next door neighbor - Scrambler Marie's, face this problem. So, there must be something wrong with their plumbing - and they are unwilling to accept this (see the property response below).
They promote free heat, but they will charge you $25 per month in administrative charges for that free heat - Even in the months that you do not use heat! - After the response from the apartment (see below), let me rephrase this. This is the administrative charges from the Gas distributor that they have in place - Minol USA. They charge this administrative fees, which is over and above the water/sewage that you pay every month to GCI with your rent. On speaking with Minol USA, this was their response - "We are a third party billing company. We bill you for gas. You will need to speak to your property where you signed your lease. "
They will not even reserve elevators (when they are working) for moving in and out. Samantha (manager) said their policy is that you can move in and out only on weekdays and that also from 10am to 4pm. That is very inconvenient for a new tenant to move-in, but since you have already signed up a lease, you have no other option but to move in without a reserved elevator!
Don't get me started on month to month leases. Their month to month leases (in case you want to stay an extra month before moving out) are horrible. They will charge you 60-70% more for month to month leases. If you sign in a 12 month lease the rents are of the order of $1000 and if you want to get into a month to month lease after an year of your lease they will increase that to 1600-1700 per month, which is crazy! On other apartments nearby, they usually charge only 20-30% more for month to month leases - which is a "Norm"
Laundry rooms has water leaks all around the year. I have videos that show water gushing out of the fittings making that place very unhygienic. The machines also don't work all the time. Leasing office/staff do not take responsibility of this as they say this service is being provided by a third party. And getting in touch with that third party provider (CSC ServiceWorks) is a nightmare.
