Mansion Hill Neighborhood Summary

Much like the Bassett Neighborhood, the Mansion Hill Neighborhood is composed of students on its borders close to the UW campus, and transitions to a more eclectic group of UW graduate students, young professionals, and some hippies and yuppies as you move away from campus and past the Capitol Square.

Residents mostly live in older houses and flats, with some newer apartment buildings sprinkled in.

The biggest draw of the neighborhood is undoubtedly its close proximity to the Capitol Square and State Street, as well as its location close to James Madison Park - a decent sized park on Lake Mendota where you'll often find young people tossing a frisbee or laying out with friends.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
