Find a La Jolla Apartment

La Jolla is actually part of San Diego, not its own independent city. However, it is safe to say that La Jolla can feel like a different world, as it is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. With average home prices soaring into the multi-million dollar ranges, finding an apartment in La Jolla provides a unique set of challenges.

Despite the extremely high price of real-estate, there is a need for affordable student housing in La Jolla, as the University of California, San Diego makes its home there. Although there certainly are some challenges to be had when looking for accommodations in La Jolla, the benefits are high, including but not limited to luxury accommodations, some of the best weather in the country, and miles of white-sandy beaches.

When to Search

Make sure you start your apartment search at the very beginning of the month in La Jolla. The prime value of real estate here means that anything that does become available will get snapped up in a hurry, so you want to look immediately after people have given notice to vacate their suites.

Staying in the Know

La Jolla is so expensive that it can pay to expand your search to other parts of San Diego. However, if you end up casting a wider net don't forget to take the cost of transportation into account. Calculate your monthly travel expenses and cost of living, and you may find that it's worth the high price of rent to live right in La Jolla.

Life in La Jolla

Transportation

La Jolla is served by the MTS's Route 30. This bus provides a connection between La Jolla and the rest of San Diego. If you plan on living and working or attending school in the immediate La Jolla area though, you should have no problem getting by on foot or on a bicycle.

Where to play

On the weekends, there is a large migration of people from the Village of La Jolla into the city to enjoy all it has to offer. However, the beaches right around the village itself are among the best in the state, with great surfing sites that perfect for beginners and veterans alike.
