They keep the grass cut and bushes trimmed. Thats about it. If you are thinking of taking your children to the pool, think again as it is often closed. I have taken my kids to the pool several times all just to turn around and walk back home because "the pump isnt working" or who knows what the real issue is. If their pump breaks this often, then they should buy a new pump. Shouldnt be hard to do, considering they charge luxury prices for dump service.... there are many problems at this apartment complex, but dissapointing my kids for the 100th time was the last straw for me.

Awful is the best word I can find to describe my experience with Barrington. When signing our lease we were shown an apartment that would be identical to ours, but ours would have 1 more bedroom. Upon move in day we walked into an apartment with ancient appliances and ancient bathroom and light fixtures. Surprisingly, they replaced the appliances, so I thought that our experience would get better. Since living here we've had a terrible roach issue. Pest control has been out almost weekly and even fogged the kitchen to get rid of them yet we STILL are having the issue. In the last month our air conditioner has stopped working 3 times for days at a time. I would call and call the office to, at best, get a call back the next day. Temperatures were in the 80s and we were forced to get a hotel. Office staff seems quite nonchalant with addressing our issues. Barrington looks great on the outside, the apartments are well kept on the outside and the lawns are kept beautifully, and that's why I've given one star. As a tenant this experience is awful. Take my word, and choose somewhere else to live!

This hole is my ceiling is still there and I have been here one month. As you can see property try to clean up their mess by adding two positive ratings after my negative. It is what it is. BE CAREFUL when renting here; all that glitters is not GOLD. Remember all things will come out in the wash. The only way you can clean up a reputation or a bad review is to make it RIGHT!!! I moved in these apartments after staying in another set in Hoover for a year. Needless to say, I am so glad I chose Barrington. The other set of apartments (RC) were extremely high and they never fixed anything. The grounds were barely kept, and the office staff was EXTREMELY rude. They changed staff every month I think, and the trash compactor was always broken. I am so glad I walked into Barrington on the day my lease was up. They gave me a very nice apartment with a discount for having a preferred employer. I am renewing my lease when it is up, and I am completely happy with the experience I have had living here.

HALF RENOVATED- Was told that I would have a newly renovated apartment with 2 free months rent if I moved in by Dec 29th...

HALF RENOVATED- Was told that I would have a newly renovated apartment with 2 free months rent if I moved in by Dec 29th or 30th. Got to apt on the 30th of dec and I had a dirty apartment will all of these flaws. Now mind you I know that you should give me time to clean up everything; but I came into a dirty apartment and none of these items have been fixed as well I have been swindled out of free rent. They have me paying rent in February. So my free rent was for the month of Dec and Jan. That was not told to me; so I feel like this property engages in unfair practices and they have done nothing to rectify the situation between us. BE CAREFUL WHEN RENTING HERE; THEY DO NOT KEEP PROPERTY CLEAN OUT BY TRASH BINS; LOOKS LIKE WE LIVE IN SUBSIDIZED HOUSING!!!

ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES!!! Over the past few months there has been an influx of roaches in our apartment, namely the kitchen area. I use the word influx, but it is approaching an all out infestation. I literally see upwards of 10-15 roaches A DAY anytime I walk into the kitchen. I've called, left messages, and have physically gone down to the office to notify them. In return, I get the same response of, "we'll put you down on the list to have someone come out". 8 times out of 10, no one shows. When they do, it's when we're away, and I come home to a note stating that the apartment has been serviced, but the last time they came out was months ago. I keep the kitchen clean at all times, I don't leave out any food, but it's getting worse. I'm at my wits end! I hate to cook in my own kitchen. Any dish that is used must to be cleaned thoroughly. We are spraying Raid damn near daily (I have a two year old child, might I add), but it seems to be for naught. $1200 is way too much money to spend a month to live in a roach motel.

Seems like Barrington is trying to do some damage control with the last 2 reviews... lived there for 2 years, and while the apartments are spacious, the maininance inside the apartment is awful. My dishwasher leaked and flooded the whole apartment... they replaced it and then that one stopped draining completely.. in addition to mold growing and smelling under my kitchen sink from the leak, no matter how much Id called for maintenance, no one would ever come so i was left with dirty dish water; sitting in my dish washer, and mold for 2 months, with repeated calls for maintenance. Even with this goin on, they would not let me out of my contract 1 month early, and wanted to blame me for the dish washer situation after moving. Worst complex ever.

We have lived at Barrington Apartment Homes for two years and seven months. The homes are spacious and with crown molding and chair railing along with a beautiful appointed book case that we get many compliments on from our guests. They have character and that is something you don't see often in apartment homes. The community is always maintained and is beautifully landscaped. The staff in the office are always so helpful and polite. They always hold special events for the residents and communicate with them as a whole through social media. Residents appreciate that. If you are in the market for a nice and safe apartment community, I would definitely recommend Barrington Apartment Homes!

Within the past 4 years I have moved at least 5 times in Birmingham and Barrington on the green has been one of the best apartment complexes in regards to housing and location. The spacious one bedroom is a perfect fit for me. I was very fortune when explaining what type of unit I wanted that I also got a great view of some of the trees and nature surrounding the complex. Located behind Sams Club, its just a short drive to Planet Fitness, Publix and very soon a Whole Foods, Riverchase Galleria Mall, Patton Creek Movie Theater and plenty of restaurants! The office staff at Barrington has always been a pleasure to speak with with any concerns or questions I may have and I know they work hard to help everyone. I have had no issues with maintenance as they have contacted me in a timely manner in emergency situations such as a broken faucet and broken A/C unit. With my past experiences there has only been a delay in maintenance requests with minor requests such as a breezeway light bulb needing to be replaced. I would recommend Barrington on the Green for anyone looking for a place to call home located in the center of Hoover!

I am having issues with the noises since they probably was out of compliance with the stair case now there is construction around my building which is causing loud disturbances throughout the day...the trash is always overflowing but they have the nerve to have people to mow the lawn everyday but there is trash laying around on the ground which causes a aweful smell...this place is going downhill Day by day...save you some money and move next door unless they are offering you free rent here. It isn't worth it. AT ALL Run BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE...I have warned you...

We have lived in Barrington for over two years, and from the second month we moved in it's been absolutely horrible. The management is rude, they don't return phone calls for days, they lie and held my money which they 'accidentally ' charged me twice for two SEPERATE TIMES, for nearly 20 days and then offered to apply it to my next months rent instead of refunding it??? I had to a typo to the bank to get funds reversed. Don't ever let them do automatic draft. The apartment seems nice at first, but after a few weeks (or days) of living here you can see it WAS a nice complex which they have let go to hell and just try to paint over, so to speak, all of the problems. All the parking areas are in horrible shape and I have had my car broken into twice in the last month or so. The demographic is pretty criminal now, wouldn't recommend kids or elderly living here, even though it may look nice at first. Trust me, the criminal elements come out. Onto the reason we are not renewing here, the last straw was what is supposed to be called 24 hour maintainance- we had our AC go out when it was nearly a hundred for several days....we have a baby and an elderly lady here, we called at 11 am on a Monday and was to,d they would be there by end of day. By Thursday and 10 calls later, still no AC. We had to rent a hotel because the baby was literally getting sick. That's one of a THOUSAND maintanence problems you will have here, small to pretty big, they don't care. They really don't. Charlotte, Samantha and the others are surly and rude and the maintenance men (man? There is rarely more than one and they only work 9-5) are inept. Completely inept and actually broke things in my home without my permission to even be there. This is just a few of the MANY reasons I say do NOT rent here no matter how nice it may look. Unless you are looking for a local mosque community as its nearby and they seem to very much not mind the problems. Maybe this is why the management got so lax. Oh yes, we are currently under our second round of small cockroach invasion- this one not as bad as the first, but we pay for pest control and they are supposed to come monthly (they don't) and they've taken their sweet time to deal with this. This is not healthy at all. The only thing we haven't had so far is mold. God forbid the next tenant finds some. Seriously. Don't rent here unless you have a sadomasochistic personality and want to be as uncomfortable and frustrated and stolen from as possible.

These apartments, although somewhat large and well-manicured on the outside, are a nightmare waiting to happen. Maintenance is atrocious and rarely if ever returns calls that are supposed to be answered 24/7. Management consists of liars and cheat who will withhold security deposits, charge extra fees for services never rendered, and attempt to swindle their way around lease terms signed on legal documents. The criminal element is rising quickly in the area, and have made parking on the property a serious risk on the best of days. Theft is common, and one is likely to find used needles and drug baggies scattered about the parking lots.

Beware. Fraudulent activity taking place on lease renewal contracts for residents who have lived there at minimum prior to 2012. Current management ownership, Somerset Apartment Management, loses security deposits and force residents who have fulfilled ALL their duties as a reliable resident to sue and be refunded. Believe me the headache is not worth living here. The environment, front office staff, and old management (Bell Partner) overall was much better before the sell to Somerset Apartment Management. Maintenance is also much slower and when they do come out the "band-aid" fix is just that and will require you to almost harass the front office for someone to acknowledge the request. PLEASE, don't leave voice messages and think your request will be documented. Maybe it will, more than likely it won't. You need to call or physically go in to make sure request are handled in a timely manner. I was a resident from September 2009 - July 2014 with my unit flooding in 2012 so believe me my analysis is fair and true. DON'T MOVE HERE!

The apartment staff and maintenance crew was below average. I would put in a maintenance ticket and it was never addressed during the year I lived at Barrington on the Green Apartments. The front office staff seemed lazy and uncaring (older staff). A lot of miscommunication with the apartment staff and tenants. A lot of "hidden" fees. Would not recommend.
