Overall, this is a nice place to live. I'll talk about some of pros of living here. First of all, it's hard to beat this location. A mall, a strip mall, a shopping square, a grocery store, a hardware store, and a couple hobby stores are literally across the street or less than 2 blocks away. The only downside here, if you're a student, is that you are a couple miles off of campus. Second, it's a nice neighborhood; there hasn't been any big crime, vandalism, or theft around here that I'm aware of. And people here are comfortable enough to leave their belongings on their porches, and I've yet seen anything missing. Third, the rent is reasonable for the apartment you'll get; it's not a crazy deal, but it's not overpriced either. Fourth, if you live around the courtyard, the landscaping is beautiful; the landscapers really put a lot of effort into making the place look nice, and it's appreciated. Now I'll discuss some of the downsides. My biggest complaint is about the weathering of these apartments. In the summer, it'll be hot as hell in your apartment, and, in the winter, it'll be as cold as Scrooge's lobby. Your electric bill and your gas bill will be nightmares if you don't invest some of your own money into weathering your apartment yourself. The doors here are French doors, and they didn't line them very well. You do have air conditioning units and not central cooling. You can feel wind drafts through some of the electrical outlets. And the windows in the bedroom are horrible too. Second, there seems to be quite a few maintenance problems around here. I haven't made any maintenance requests myself (I haven't had any problems), but the neighbors have had several plumbing problems which has affected me (staff will make requests that you don't use your water for a while). On the up side though, these repairs are completed in a couple hours, and they are very good about giving you notices ahead of time. Third, the parking lot is quite ugly and embarrassing: there is a large pothole near the entrance of this place, and it's quite annoying. There used to be cracks in it, but they've taken care of that now. There are two buildings here which are not adjacent to the courtyard, which means you won't have as nice of a view and will have to make quite a walk if you want to do your laundry here (which is in the basement of the office). Fourth, many of these apartments were 'renovated' right before I moved in, but I'm unimpressed. The following is probably more of a criticism about the renovators the complex hired, and is perhaps more of a rant. There are units with (real) granite countertops which is nice, but that's about all the compliments I have to give. The paint here easily scuffs and is an ugly eggshell color. In fact, there's little variation in the color scheme around here. The tile and the carpet unnecessarily match the eggshell: you'll have to add your own color. The electrical outlets are placed in strange locations (like a third of the way up the wall). And if you want to use your phone jack, it might not actually be hooked up (as mine wasn't); also, it's located as far as possible from any outlet in the apartment. If you want internet, go with cable and not DSL. The CO2 detector is located near the ceiling (CO2 sinks people); make sure you buy your own detector. There is not a lot of counterspace, especially if you have a couple appliances. I had no kitchen drawer (really?). There is no medicine cabinet. The stove is located next to the carpet, so you shouldn't use two of the burners. There's this interior window-like opening between the kitchen and the living room; it's pretty aesthetic but creates a lot of unusable space. I was tempted several times to fill it in, attach cabinets there, and alter the cabinets under the counter to have a drawer. There is no light fixture in the living room area. Might not seem like a downside when you're given a tour midday, but there is next to no light in there during the night without a lamp. I hope I've given the reader some valuable info about considering living here.

My wife and I have been living at Tiger Village for the past 2 years. We are comfortable raising our one-year old daughter year, and have been very satisfied with our renting experience. Speaking from renting a renovated 1-bedroom and 1-bath unit, the only small problem we have had since we have been here was insects. However, the pest control team came quickly and treated the entire apartment and we rarely see any bugs now. Mills Properties did a great job renovating this place since we came in 2011. The main area near the office is very pretty and the residents are friendly. +PROS+ Excellent staff, always take complaints or problems seriously and resolve immediately. Joey has been managing for most of our residence and stays on top of his shoot. Maintenance is friendly as well as contracted workers (lawn-care, renovating teams) +Laundry room is usually spotless. We hate not having laundry in our room, but at least they are maintained good. Only had problems with the machines once, prior to the new laundry room. Pool is clean. Office computers (3) are fast, free printers +Price+ As a recent Mizzou graduate we have lived in and seen many apartments in the Columbia area. Entire grounds cleaner than most around town. Not a cheap and dirty party place like some on the north side of town. For the assistance and room that we had, I would recommend any of my friends to live here. We are looking for apartments in St. Louis and have looked for weeks without finding any apartment complex that compares to Tiger Village. +Location+ I can walk to Gerbes, the grocery store about 1/2 mile away, work, and to the mall in about 5 minutes. -CONS- We live on the 2nd (middle) floor so we hear a lot of footsteps and activity from our neighbors upstairs -Parking gets tight, though there is always somewhere pretty close to park. -Paint job was done very cheaply. We moved into a unit that was remodeled immediately before moving in. Our comforter turned the wall next to our bed red after one night. We put a simple plastic cover over our air conditioning unit over the winter to keep the heat in. When we took it of in the spring, it stripped the paint off the wall. -Some idiot always throws his losing scratch off tickets all over the parking lot (I hope you read this) This place is at the very least worth taking a look at. Completely different complex than when we moved here two years ago. Would stay in a two bedroom here if we continued to live in Columbia.

ONLY if you are snobby would you think these apartments are horrbile, ive lived here for a month, and my building is quite, my apt was perfectly clean when we moved in, it looks great. and i am NOT afraid to walk to my car at night. The Laundry facility isnt great tho, the washers are extremely loud, and smell like burning rubber on the spin cycle, and the dryers take an hour, and if u load it heavily the clothes are still wet when the hours up, plus the washers leak. The people so far are odd but have only been nice. Tiger Village isnt a horrible place to live, you would only think so if you have lived in a high class place, and were not around lower class ppl in your life.
