I have lived here for almost 3 years. It was a great experience. Every time I needed a maintenance service in the apartment, the service was promptly offered and resolved. The staff are very friendly, professional and respectful; neighbors are quiet and friendly. The location of the complex is another good aspect. It is close to the Mall, Walmart, Hyvee and several restaurants. Also, it is really close to downtown, you can easily ride a bike or get the bus, which has a line right across the street.
The recently builded a clubhouse which has new laundry facility and a gym. I have really enjoyed my time here.

Lived there for 4 years. Management was great and was always caring towards their renters. Very laid back but also follow the policy strictly. Maintence team could use a bit more work and show a little more care on how they do their job. Everything outside has been remodled, my unit was remodled inside as well and I loved it. I lived in the front buildings. Was decently quiet majority of the time, no violence. Some neighbors were rowdy and loud and you could hear them talking or yelling but other wise. Good place to live. Pet and kid friendly! Cute little dog parks in the block and i loved having access to the gym they just built in the clubhouse.

I've lived at Heather Ridge since Nov. '16 & for the price, it's a great value. The staff has been incredibly attentive & responsive to my maintenance requests & although it's an older apartment complex (built in the '60s, I believe), it's constantly being modernized & renovated. They have just about everything you need on-site - three laundry rooms, two dog potty areas, a small workout room & a nice community pool - plus four grocery stores, dozens of restaurants & the Columbia Mall all less than a mile away. But beyond the specs of the location & amenities, they also offer wonderful service. I was required to renew my lease 60 days before it expired, however, 2 days after signing paperwork to renew, I was fired from my job. Kollin (Asst. Property Manager at Heather Ridge) was willing to work with me to cancel my renewal when he really didn't have to, & I know for a fact, staff at other property groups in the area wouldn't have. It's little human touches like that led me to give a 5 star review. Even though I'll be moving away this summer, I can't thank Kollin & the rest of the Heather Ridge staff enough for their service & dedication to making Heather Ridge a great place to live for the last year and a half.

Looking for apartments in Columbia is a difficult task! I spent days searching for the perfect place. When I came across Mills Properties, I knew I was getting closer to calling someplace home. Out of the dozens of properties I looked at, I was the most attracted to Heather Ridge. I only needed a one bedroom but I settled for a two bedroom (they offer both), which was totally affordable. It is the PERFECT size for me, and the apartment itself was clean and I felt like I was the very first person to live in the unit. The appliances however are not totally up-to-date, but everything runs great - and if I ever have an issue with anything, maintenance staff is always on top of it. The office staff are attentive and quick to fix any issues that happen to arise. The community is great too! The exercise room is a nice feature (you can work-out while you wait for your laundry in the next room). The pool in the summer time is so relaxing, and the courtyard is always freshly mowed or mulched. Sometimes the office holds community events too, like a chili-cook off and Halloween parties. Overall, I really love living at Heather Ridge!

I pay to get cold shower water, the walls are always creeking and making the LOUDEST noises. THANK YOU HEATHER RIDGE FOR MAKING MY FIRST LIVING SITUATION AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!!! Look somewhere else to live.

Loud, nickeled and dimed. The one thing that really annoyed me was the GSD on the restricted breed list. Other dogs on the apartment complex are not trained and agressive. When are insurance companies going to realize its not the breed but the owners responsibility for the temperment! I also feel the need to mention 3 different occasions of drug deals in the parking lot, same car same people

The staff at Heather Ridge is incredible! They truly care about each tenant and go above and beyond. When I first looked at the apartments, I was hesitant based on the outside and things looking a little run down, but after seeing the inside of the apartment with the granite countertops and the constant improvements the management is doing, I have no doubt that they are one of the best in town. I lived at Broadway Village previously and I cannot say enough great things about the management! I am going to miss them all very much!

Very good location. I lived here for about four months without a car but everything I needed was in walking distance. The apartments are older and could look nicer, but for what you pay they are quite good. Most importantly, the management is great. I had trouble paying my rent online and they helped me out. I had several maintenance requests - leaky faucet, heat went out, stovetop unit went out - and they were responded to very quickly. The groundskeeping in the courtyard is beautiful. Other tenants are generally nice and respectful.

The staff knew me by name and were always friendly, the grounds were kept very neat and clean, and maintenance always completed my requests within 24 hours. I had a two bedroom apartment, and the size was great for the price. I wish I did not have to move!

We lived in these apartments from 2014 to 2015 for over a year. It was very convienteint living close to walmart and the mall. We never really had to deal with maintenance as we only had one issue right when we moved in and it was taken care of in a day or two, so I don't have much input on that. BUT I do know Columbia had a couple bigger snows while we were there and the parking lot and sidewalks were taken care of within 24 hours, which was very nice!! The apartment we lived in, was a little outdated as far as appliances, but still we never had issues with them. AND apartments were in the process of being updated while we were there. They allow pets, which was great for us and they have a fenced in area to let you dog off the leash and use the bathroom. The thing I have to brag about these places is: at the end of our lease, we started the process of buying a house and it ended up taking longer than expected, Heather Ridge allowed us to expand our lease for a short term period, which really help us out! We have also had horrible experiences with getting deposits back in the past...but not from this place. We did keep our place pretty neat, but we have also did that in the past and still got charged an arm and a leg AFTER they took our deposit. Heather ridge gave us almost the entire deposit back! Overall, it may no be the most up to date apartments in Columbia, but we never have any major problems and they really helped us out at the end of our lease.

I lived here for only 3 months on a short term lease and have no complaints. I will say, like others, I hope they upgrade their laundry facilities sometime soon but they are adequate at the least. I should also add that they are in the process of upgrading the entire complex so expect some random construction (such as repaving the parking lots, and fully renovating the interior of the apartments). The management/maintenance team are great and very quick to respond to any needs. Most importantly I received my FULL rent deposit back 2 weeks after moving out. Definitely a place worth your time and money. Hopefully they continue doing it right.

I have lived here for 2 years and have seen the good, the bad and the ugly here. Kudos goes out to the Gatehouse management for getting rid of the bad element that was here last year. There is an outdoor swimming pool, nice patio area and general play area where kids can play. The people here are nice, yes there are some college kids here, but if they get noisy, I let them know and they are respectful. The maintenace people here are responsive when called. My refrigerator went out after hours and they called me back even before their office opened. They also have laundry facilities which are adequate, but should be upgraded. Also they need to install lighting that works at the mailbox area. But all in all, I am happy for what I am paying for. Rent $450 per month for me for 2 bedroom apt and they offered me $300 off first months rent for renewing lease with them. The office staff is very nice and friendly. Yes these apartments arent brand new, but in my opinion, they are a good value for the money spent. Also, they are located close to Wal-Mart, and it isnt a very far walk to the Columbia Mall. I love the fact that I dont have to drive my car, and can walk to do my shopping or to get haircut or a Starbucks. Dry cleaners is next door as well as Crossroads Shopping center.
