Roosevelt University

When you look past Roosevelt’s campus to its downtown, urban setting, it can feel like there are infinite forms of public transportation around you. That’s only mildly hyperbolic. The Loop is the hub for Chicago’s transit systems, and virtually every one of the city’s transportation routes is there for you to take. The Van Buren Street train station is steps away from campus to the east, and the Harold Washington Library subway stop is steps away to the west; you can catch five different subway lines there. I could go on but you get the picture. I should mention that the best part isn’t all this accessibility, but that more often than not you don’t even need public transit, you can just walk where you need to go. Roosevelt is smack in the middle of the the Loop, which is Chicago’s downtown community. So, really, the question isn’t what can you do around here, but rather what can’t you do? Do you want to walk along one of the best urban parks in America? Roosevelt’s campus overlooks Grant Park. Want to see a show at the best venue in the city? The Chicago Theater is just a few blocks away. And as for shopping, don’t even get me started on how many shops and retail stores there are nearby. If you want to go elsewhere in the city, like for a sports game or to visit a friend, the school is well serviced by public transit.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
