Now that I've lived here for a few months, I am modifying this review so I can give a fair and unbiased review of the place. I hope this helps anyone who is looking for a place to live in SA. Here is the good: -The staff here are very professional and courteous. I still stand by that. -The apartment complex is very affordable and spacious! I have friends that live in newer apts that pay a ton more for a smaller unit! -I am always skeptical about apartment internet but the new tech amenity Internet speeds are very impressive. I've been getting 500 down which is faster than the advertised speeds! Not a big fan of being forced onto cable TV though as a cord cutter. -Programmable thermostats in the apartments is a pretty cool and uncommon thing to find in even the most expensive apartments. -Fitness center isn't bad and was recently updated. -Two pools with a real tropical feel with all the tall palm trees planted all over the pool area -I had a very bad move in experience but this goes back to the staff making it right. Several things in my apartment were broken on move in day. They made sure everything was replaced right away and docked off money off my first month's rent for inconvenience. Every business makes mistakes, but in the end, how they make up for it matters. The staff at Blue Swan did just that. -Walls here are a lot thicker than the last apartment I lived in. I have not heard my neighbors once. -VERY prompt maintenance. They had to replace my entire A/C and some of the parts were back ordered (not their fault). They put a window unit in to keep my bedroom cool so I could still sleep. My A/C now works great and runs very quiet! Now for the bad: Remember, these are the cheaper options in San Antonio. You get what you pay for. So do your research and know what you're signing up for. -Avoid units facing the HEB. HEB delivery trucks make a lot of noise early in the morning. -Parking is AWFUL in the evenings. If you come in the late evening, odds are you will have to park far away from your apartment. -No ceiling fans or lights in the living room -This being an older complex, units are on a boiler system (meaning each unit doesn't have its own hot water heater but a shared boiler). A lot of the time when I shower, the water temperature can go from lukewarm to scalding hot! If they can fix this problem (as this seems to be a widespread problem judging by other reviews), I will definitely add a star! -The exit gate near HEB has been broken for months. It's pretty clear they do not intend on fixing it anytime soon (or maybe ever). -The dryer connection is a three prong outlet. If you have a newer dryer, you will need to swap out the four prong cord for a three. Overall: If you are looking for a cheaper apartment, give these a shot. The staff are amazing. But just remember, these are older buildings and therefore may have more problems than a newer complex. If you expect newer buildings, look elsewhere...as these were built in the 80s (but have been updated nicely on the interior). I've seen some complaints regarding vehicle break ins. I have not had a problem or issue with safety here. Use your common sense and take your valuables out, no matter where you choose to live. If you can look past those cons listed above, you will be happy here. Things can be improved in some areas here, but overall, I'm happy for now. That being said, even though I gave this review 5 stars, I cannot give a proper review of these apartments yet as I have not yet moved in but so far I'm optimistic. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!. To start, this complex moved me and my wife into a GERMAN roach infested 1 bedroom apartment and REFUSED to move us out without paying a transfer fee. When we showed videos of the roaches to the management they showed disgust and yet still said " It wasnt infested when we inspected before you moved in"..... We only live in that apartment for 5 days before deciding to move into a 2 bed and bath. (Which we had to pay separate deposit and transfer fee Additionally, I bought a new truck in January of '18 and I only had the truck for 3 days before the tires were stolen and put on bricks. The officer I spoke to said he was onsite a week prior for a mustang being put on blocks. When I brought this up to the property management. I go a cold and stern "cars are not our responsibility." I firmly believe that the security guard is in with thieves due to the exit gates being wide open when they are supposed to be closed. This allows for anyone to come in the middle of the night and steal whatever they want. I REPEAT.... DO NOT LIVE HERE.

I applied to be a resident here and was approved. The grounds are kept, the pools are sparkling and the management company was very nice. The place wasn't bad, a one bedroom with a fireplace so the positioning seemed a bit awkward but I liked that it had french doors, washer/dryer connections and fans with overhead lighting. Unfortunately, the bad reviews and crime reports of the area changed my decision. However, I am writing this report to say that the application process was pleasant and the tour was lovely. Rebecca Gonzalez was very friendly and helpful and I appreciate the service they provided when I was considering my residency here. The place doesn't seem like a bad place, and I hope that someone is able to take my spot and make the Blue Swan Apartments their Forever Home!

UPDATE: Blue Swan is forcing everyone to get cable and internet and charging it directly in your rent. They have removed our choice, as I don't have cable and haven't paid for cable in YEARS. Now, they are forcing all residents to take their "bundle" and I will lose my internet service if I don't pay their price. This is a SCAM OF SCAMS! Literally they are bullying everyone into their "tech amenity". I have a commercial account contract for internet and I will lose internet AND STILL PAY FOR INTERNET! It's ABSURD! They do not care and everyone here is VERY UPSET! Do not move here. Most of what you read on these reviews are true. I moved in a little over a month ago and have experienced most of the complaints left in reviews. My main issue is water. I am never able to take a comfortable shower. It fluctuates from lukewarm to scalding no matter where I move the dial. The longer I stay in the shower the more hotter/colder it gets, like 15 secs cold, 15 sec scalding hot. There is no in between. Water pressure is really bad in entire apartment. All of the cabinets have bad water damage. Yes, there are lots of roaches. I bought my own spray and treat the outside of my patio and the problem seems to be better. But if you are going to walk around at night you will see them crawling everywhere. They don't water the grounds on the "inside", so the sidewalks are lifted with lots of fun holes for rodents to make homes. These are moderately run down apartments, just know to expect that. Staff doesnt let you know about pending construction or updates. The staff is pretty nice, and that is what I liked. It just seems that they are overwhelmed with the amount of maintenance this property needs being that it has fallen so far behind.

Communism and roaches. On top of all the roaches this place is making all residents get the same internet and cable for 80 a month. Residents do not have choice now with what internet and/cable they want. Who wants cable now anyways? Nobody! They are forcing us to pay for cable by adding it directly to our rent, you no longer have control over your accounts. They control your internet/cable, force you to pay their amount and take the choice out of your hands. This is freaking America BLUE SWAN! There are much better places around the area to live, I'm moving as soon as I can!

CORPORATE SCAM!!! I have never lived in a more corrupt place than Blue Swan. They are FORCING ALL RESIDENTS to take internet AND cable service for $80 per month added to their rent. If you did not have cable and do not WANT CABLE, there is no choice and you are being forced to pay for a service you do not want. I only have internet service through Spectrum, which I have a business contract where I only pay $30 per month for internet. Now, because I didn't "opt in" for their "tech amenity" I WILL LOSE INTERNET SERVICE WHILE STILL PAYING MY SPECTRUM CONTRACT. I will be paying my Spectrum contract AND not be able to have internet service because Blue Swan and COTTONWOOD RESIDENTIAL are literally the bottom of the barrel corporate scamsters.

Great value apartment. Unlike most apartments these have thick walls, so you don't have to worry about neighbors. Pest control and maintenance are completed promptly. I've seen some reviews complain of roaches, this is Texas roaches are inevitable, but with regular pest control I can count the number of roaches I've seen in the past year on one hand. The interiors are updated, and have features such as a programable thermostat that you often only find in "luxury" apartments. If you want luxury but on a budget make this your new home.

Sometimes if I have groceries, I have to pull over, take my groceries upstairs and then move my car far away and hike back. They really need to do something about the parking problems here. -I am on a third floor apartment and the A/C works up until it hits 90 outside. -- UPDATE: This has been fixed -No ceiling fans or lights in the living room -This one really bothers me. As a cord cutter, they are adding an amenity which bundles cable and internet into the rent. As soon as my lease renews, I am going to be forced to "purchase" cable TV as it will be included as an amenity in the rent. This is going to raise my rent $40 or so...for something that I do not even want. The lineup isn't that great either. If I want cable TV, I'll get cable TV...I don't need the apartment forcing me over to something I don't want. Especially as a cord cutter. Had I known they were going to do this, I'm not sure I would have leased here. -The reviews you read about the water changing from hot to cold are unfortunately true. The water can go from lukewarm to scalding hot! Sad to say I've not had one nice shower here. They REALLY need to FIX this. It's bad. Renters Beware! Do not rent from this property! Katie in the office was very rude/ unprofessional and I have never experienced such poor customer service from any leasing office. My son filled out an application to rent from Blue Swan. Due to the high deposit and rent he chose to find another apartment. The apartment then charged him a deposit on an apartment that he wasn't even renting. Failed to contact him and then turned him over to collections. Poor businees decisions on their part. I would not lease from a property that is charging deposits to someone that has chosen to not even rent from them.

Most of what you read on these reviews are true. I moved in a little over a month ago and have experienced most of the complaints left in reviews. My main issue is water. I've lived at Blue Swan a short amount of time, a couple of months to be exact. While I do enjoy the location and the overall layout of my place there are a few things that concern me; one major one to be exact. I was told about a fitness room but when I asked about it was informed that it's being worked on & could not be given a specific time frame to utilize this listed amenity, which is quite annoying because if it's a listed feature some sort of work should be happening & from my last walk by it nothing seems to be happening. However, my biggest issue with this complex is the roach infestation. I have called to complain & was told I needed to wait until that next week because pest control only comes out on Tuesday & I had the misfortune of calling on a Wednesday morning. Nevertheless I waited and dealt with these baby roaches all over the place. That next week pest control came and sprayed my apartment. I was in the clear from bug's for about a week (maybe less) & long behold they are back! I'm NOT a messy person or a hoarder with my things, I keep my apartment clean and neat....with the exception of maybe not washing dishes one day out of the week. Because of this disgusting problem I make it a point to clean as much as I can but these roaches dont seem to be dying. I live on the second floor and I don't understand why my place is getting infested with these small roaches. I'm honestly regretting leaving my previous apartment because I almost never had to deal with insects. But the amount of roaches AND small spiders is beyond disgusting!! I rated them a 2 because it's barely going on month 3 that I've been living here & I'm instantly regretting it merely because of these insect infestations. If I could give a positive comment it would be that the maintenance staff is phenomenal & very friendly...but while apartment hunting choose wisely because friendly staff does nothing when you're sleepy with roaches!!

I fell in love with Blue Swan about one year ago for a lot of reasons, one reason initially was Pam. Pam was warm and inviting from the get go and made sure to get all my contact info unlike the other apartments around this area. I loved the apartment size and was so eager to move in, my apartment wasn't all the way finished when I moved in, but I brushed it off because Irving was hurrying to finish up my baseboards while I moved in. I was initially told there was an exercise room and a hot tub, this made me ecstatic! I was smitten with the layout of the apartment and looking forward to the amenities. The 2 pools are nice sizes, but the one in phase 2 is not always clean. The hot tub does not ever work and from what the office told me, it can never be fixed. There was a bathroom located conveniently next to the pool, but vandals took a sledgehammer to it and they had to close it. There is a cute little bar area with so much potential, but unfortunately it's also trashed. When I moved in I couldn't see out of my peephole and when I told Irving he told me HE could see out of it, the next week someone was pounding on my door and trying to get in at 2 am and I couldn't see who it was. After telling the office, they told me a lot of people had the same issue that night; Irving came back and replaced my scratched up peephole with one that I could see out of it. The paint on the outside of the fence was never repainted so it is chipping off more and more each day, which looks really tacky. When I moved in, I was informed that the workout room was going to be renovated soon thereafter. I was personally just happy to have a treadmill, but was still looking forward to the changes. In December is when the treadmill went out, as well as the bike machines, mind you there was still no renovation. It is May now and there is still no workout room renovation, the door has been locked for at least 2 months and no progress has been made other than removal of workout machines. I have a little less than 2 months before my lease is up and if I sign a 10 month my rent goes up $30 dollars which is around a 4% increase. If I sign a 12 month it's around a 9% increase. If you plan on living here, 2 MONTHS notice is required to move out, so keep that in mind...When it comes to maintenance requests this place is good about finishing up in a timely manner. JESSE IS AMAZING. He is the friendliest person and really seems to genuinely care about the tenants. The office staff is all very pleasant and professional. I would like to give more stars, but based on my initial expectations, I have to give 3 stars...Lawn maintenance seems to come randomly, even though they are scheduled to come on Fridays, being on the first floor, this can be somewhat of a pain when you aren't expecting a weedwhacker at 8 am buzzing by your window. The location is convenient and the apartment sizes are spacious, if that is all you are concerned about, I would definitely recommend Blue Swan. I would love to give more stars but under the circumstances, 3 seems to be appropriate. It is nowhere near horrible at Blue Swan, but it definitely is not all that I anticipated, not to mention there's a poop troll with blue bags that likes to bag their dog's poop and throw it around the trashcan, but never in it. Overall, the staff is nice, maintenance is great, and there is a pool and a laundry facility if you need it. Don't just take my word for it, check it out before you make your final decision.

Although these apartments LOOK nice--- the service has drastically declined in the last year. We have gone MONTHS at a time without adequate hot water, without any adjustment to our water bill--- not to mention the multiple times the whole complex has been without water. We continually complain about the roach problem around the pool. However, the most they do is to spray the inside of the apartment (when they don't 'forget' you like they did us this last week). And, you have to remember to request it...or you are SOL. However, the apartment spraying does nothing for the HUNDREDS of roaches you will see swarming the pool area at night. The main pool behind the apartment office has been closed for over two weeks, now. They fixed the pump the Tuesday after Memorial Day--- yet, they can't manage to clean up the algae (they let sit for days and days) enough to open it back up. That leaves the whole complex with the little pool behind the mailboxes...which gets crowded very quickly...and was also closed without notice today. The 'hottubs' the community boasts about in their ads have not worked in the 2 years we have lived here...not even for a day. The office staff changes so quickly, it is hard to keep track, which throws off building a repertoire with residents. I have had my mail 'misplaced' multiple times...come to find out I have multiple boxes sitting in the back, unnoticed sometimes for a month. Our floors bubbled up less than a month after moving in...even though the hard floors are a consideration when determining our too high rate. The gate is constantly broken, leading to jammed up traffic outside of the apartments. My car was broken into in broad day light right outside the office. There as been a growing number of occurrences with drunk/loud tenants late into the night. The only reason I am giving a rating of 'fair' and not 'poor' is because the actual apartments are nice and spacious. However, the rent they are charging suggests a much higher quality of amenities and service...which you will not get here. Unfortunately, we are stuck agreeing to another hike in our rent for another year lease as we prepare to buy a house. But, I cannot wait to say good riddance.

SCOTT is the biggest liar I've ever seen. DO NOT trust him at all! I really should sue he him, but seeing as to how i fixed the problem myself, I decided to avoid all of the trouble. If this was just some random person trying to diss blue swan apartments, i would diss the entire place, but no, ONLY SCOTT because he is the biggest liar I have ever seen. And Men, do not bring your woman around him, because I found out he was constantly talking to my woman at the time. Big liar, really hope blue swan managers fire him. Whenever the other staff would agree and say that they could do this or that, he would "override" their decision, sometimes getting in unprofessional arguements with them right in front of me. The guy has major issues and you can always tell when he's had a bad day. From my experience, my apartment is a good place to stay. Cats do run around alot and sleep on top of cars, but i guess you can say they keep the birds from pooping on it. You can request exterminators that do their spray down job once every monday so thats cool. the grass is always being cut by workers and the trash never overflows. i've never swam in the pools but they look pretty clean to me but not the hot tub. VERY IMPORTANT! CHECK to MAKE SURE that all of your cables inside your wall arent CUT!!!!! they cut the cables when they paint the walls and dont replace them. For the longest i was wondering why cable/internet was not working and yep,,, the fucking cables are all cut. this should definetly be fixed before i moved in. so check that out. you can make a home out of these apartments if you're self sufficient but if you run into a problem... SCOTT IS NOT THE GUY TO GO TO! HORRIBLE! once he gets you to sign the papers, FUCK YOU. worse kind of person.

The staff, the grounds, the amenities and pet friendly... i love it all!! The Staff are wonderful, polite, considerate and delightful people. The grounds are always clean and the amenities are great. One of my favorite things about this community is they do 'Breakfast at the gate'. They actually have a table loaded with delicious breakfast treats and hand them to you as you are leaving. its amazing! Another amazing thing is the maintenance staff. If i need something fixed, it only has to be fixed once. They don't do a half a$$ job and have to come back again in a few days. Its done right the first time.
