Duquesne University is a private Catholic University located in the South Side of Pittsburgh. Despite their religious affiliation, their Catholic roots rarely show in academic or school life. They have many prestigious programs, including Occupational Therapy, Pharmaceuticals, Health Sciences, Journalism, and Business. The classes are smaller, allowing you to bond with other students and get well acquainted with the professors in your department. Students here receive a lot of individual attention and advice regarding their particular career path.
Despite the higher tuition price, students at Duquesne are known for being welcoming and down-to-earth. You’re likely to find friends from all kinds of backgrounds and places. Sports are not a huge part of the social life at Duquesne, but many students do follow the football, basketball, and soccer teams.
There is Greek life here, though it’s a bit different than some other Universities. Sororities and Fraternities do not have access to more resources than other students and most of them are based on campus. However, there’s an unofficial Greek Row located in the South Side. This is where many off-campus parties take place. Some students hop on the bus to raid PITT parties in Oakland. If you’re not into house parties, you’re right next to all the attractions and nightlife that the rest of the South Side has to offer!
