Madison WI 09-01-2012 by Richard Hurd, on Flickr

Regent Neighborhood Summary

The most important thing to know about the Regent Neighborhood is that on Badger Football Saturdays it's dominated by students, alums and other Sconnies partaking in the oldest of Wisconsin traditions: enjoying a few too many adult beverages and watching the Badgers.

That appeal brings a lot of University of Wisconsin students to the neighborhood, especially in the blocks closest to Camp Randall, the university's football stadium.

Not big on college football? No problem, the Regent Neighborhood still has plenty to offer.

It's close to the UW School of Engineering, the UW Medical School and the new Union South. It is also just a hop, skip and a jump from the Monroe Street area with its slice of more typical Madison including Trader Joe's, small coffee shops, bars and stores.

Places of Interest

This area really buzzes on football Saturdays, but there are plenty of other attractions:

  • The Shell – a recreational sports facility with a skating rink
  • Trader Joe’s grocery store
  • Mickey’s Dairy Bar (try the pancakes!)
  • Indie Coffee (try the waffles!)

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
