This was initially a 5 star review, one month after living here, this is my update (previous review still below)
First and foremost, the leasing office staff and maintenance are friendly and trying their best. This review is more for the property manager, regional manager, owner and any owning partners:
The hot water: you have 2 options, cold or scalding. This temperature changes about every 10-15 seconds. So if you think you're getting a cool splash of water to wash the cleanser off of your face in the morning, think again. A blast of hot water will most definitely hit you right in the face. I mentioned this to the leasing office and was told there is nothing they can do about this. My only other option, is to pray that during the next 11 months of my lease I am not scalded so badly as to have to obtain a lawyer for negligence.
The heat: it is consistently 84 degrees in my apartment. 77 with windows open. Not to mention the 5 days during a 3 degree cold front that I had no heat AT ALL. I find it interesting that tenants are responsible to pay for gas and water utilities to which we have zero control of the temperature.
Which leads me to today. I woke up to a text message that the hot water was shut off. No why. No when it would be back on. I had to get ready for work so reluctantly I opted for a cold shower. It was then that I realized it wasn't just the hot water, but there was NO RUNNING WATER in my apartment. I had to pack up my things and head to work unshowered and brush my teeth in the bathroom of my place of employment. I can't even explain how uncomfortable, humiliating and infuriating that was. But the real kicker, is the text and back to back emails I sent regarding the water received ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE from anyone at the apartment company. That is rude, inconsiderate and might as well have just tacked a note to my door that said "bleep you, pay me."
I read reviews before moving here, and I thought it's not so bad. I spoke with the leasing office, and some of the personnel that live here and deal with the same problems daily, and again, assumed, not so bad. But it is bad. And we pay good money to live here and expect certain comfort levels when it comes to basic utility service and safety of not being scaled by hot water on a daily basis. I guess whatever discounts on rent the employees get is worth the sacrifice, but upwards of $900/month + I expect more.
The owners need to fix these items immediately, stop hanging crappy wallpaper and art work to make the place appealing and spend money on the equipment that affects our daily life activities in order to live comfortably.
As for the leasing office, again, staff is great, but don't ignore an email of a concerned tenant when we did nothing wrong except to expect to have running water in our apartment that we pay for. Say, apologies, offer a credit - a gift card - acknowledge that a human being is being adversely affected by the problems in this building.
I moved here from Philadelphia, and Steven and Westin were wonderful helping me find a unit via telephone and email. When I arrived I was warmly greeted with keys and a package room full of items I had shipped prior to my move. There were some minor issues with my unit at move in, but nothing that wasn't taken care of immediately by the maintenance supervisor Jacob, and nothing that wouldn't be expected considering this is a large and older apartment building. Everyone has been accommodating and helpful. Neighborhood seems safe and the plaza is absolutely beautiful.
