School of the Art Institute of Chicago

The School of the Art Institute’s location allows students to have better access to public transportation than arguably anyone else in the city. There are four subway stations within just one block of campus, which provide access to the Red, Blue, Brown, Green, Pink, Purple, and Orange subway lines (essentially all of them). Outside of the one block radius, there are around 15 subway stops within walking distance of campus. There are also three train stations within walking distance of campus, which provide access to the city’s “L” rail system. Last but not least, there are dozens of nearby bus stops that students can use to get around the city. The School of the Art Institute has a perfect location in downtown Chicago that is unmatched by nearly any other school in the city. The school doesn’t necessarily have a traditional college campus, but if you walk one block east, you will find Millenium Park--Chicago’s most well-known public park. In the summer, there are always concerts, festivals, and other fun events going on there. Aside from the park, the school is within blocks of the city’s best bars, music venues, theaters, clubs, and any other hot weekend spot you can think of. And because of the access to public transportation, you will be able to easily explore the rest of the city as well.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
