IN MY OPINION, this is not a good place for international students or any foreigner. IN MY OPINION, It is useless to try and compromise as the manager, JENNIFER, is rude, argumentative and even goes as far as to interrupt, talk over and THREATEN potential customers.

Get it? Downhill. It's a pun, because it's called The Fields, and fields sometimes have hills. Or maybe they have to be flat? Is a hilly field a meadow? Is that what that is? I always wondered, when it would come up in poems and movie titles and retirement homes, but i was too embarrassed to ask anyone.

Nice clean hotel, Breakfast was great! Staff was very nice and you can'y beat the location being this close to downtown. A fair distance from IU but a manageable walk. Also a little bit of a hike to the larger bars on Kirkwood. Parking is a little bit of a pain.

This is the first time ever in my life that I would like to write a negative review on anything. Management did a terrible job on communicating with residents, in which ended up costing me a huge late fee. The funny thing is that management has no means of waiving the late fees, which is a joke on their accounting systems. Except this terrible experience, house is good and environment around house is nice.

I went to get my keys and said I wanted to meet the manager to say hi/etc and introduce my family and the woman behind the counter-desk said she would find out what Chelsea was doing and be right back. When she came back she said Chelsea was busy and to try again later. I said okay etc and signed papers and when I was leaving lo and behold CHELSEA comes out of her office, almost runs into me!!! and walks out the door. She didn't even say excuse me or anything.

Horrible! I was told they would be putting brand new carpet in my apartment before I moved in. When I went to move in there were stains everywhere. I was told they didn't have time but now I didn't have to worry if anything happened to the carpet because they are changing the carpet in the whole complex to a different color and texture. When I moved out they tried charging me for replacing the carpet. When I reminded them of all our conversations about it and showed them the paperwork that I filled out with the lady I signed with the manager said she had no idea who she even was! They send maintenance people in without any notice and treat people with absolutely no respect. I went in to ask a question about a bill and when the lady went to get the manager, the manager came in yelling at me instead of letting me ask my question. I have never been verbally abused like that...and over a question! Extremely unprofessional! Stay away!

My husband and I have lived here for 9 months, and we already signed for a 2nd year. We love our apartment! Actually it is the nicest apartment we have ever lived in (here in Bloomington and in NYC). The management is helpful and the maintenance is great! Whenever we have an issue, they are on top of it. We searched many apartments in the Bloomington area before deciding on The Fields, and we even read the unhappy reviews on here. We were hesitant at first, but now we are so happy that we moved here. Many people complain about not getting their security deposit back, and really, that's something you will find all over the area. This place is quiet, great amenities (2 pools, 2 gyms, walking path, fishing pond, dog park, recycling, etc). The people who live here are nice and we never feel unsafe. We are very happy here.
