I've been living here for two years. I know over 8 people who have had their cars broken into (some multiple times). My car was broken into 2 months ago, whereas security refused to check the cameras. Two days ago I was robbed again, this time my car had (2) 21" RIMS AND TIRES REMOVED from my car, in the main parking lot next to the main parking entrance. The security company refused to let the police officer view the video from the cameras, telling him instead they would "let him know if they found something." They found nothing of course. When I asked for the name of the security company, they refused to give it to me. To take the massive rims out someone would have had to go in and out through the gate on the video cameras, and use a pass or credit card to exit. Months ago when I reported my first break-in I was told "yeah it's been happening a lot", yet I never see any security down there. I only see them on the corner smoking cigarettes. I'm giving Hassalo a 1-star review because they refuse to take action and/or replace the security company who is letting everyone's car get broken into. I believe the security company or employees are in on the thefts due to their reluctance to help or be named.

Aster Tower is the best place Ive lived. I felt like I was living 5 star luxury given the views and amenities, but at a much more affordable rate than comparable places in Portland. My friends were paying 1.2-1.5x to live in the Pearl, but preferred to come to my place to hang on the awesome roof or in the spa. Also, given that I travel frequently for work and personal life, being right on the Max line was a huge plus. I loved that I wasnt renting from a big rental company with faces changing constantly. The Hassalo staff is friendly and professional, and even without a single email question or reminder they mailed me my full security deposit back. I ultimately decided to move out earlier this year to live in a house with a group of friends, but once I want to live on my own again or with a smaller crew I cant imagine going anywhere other than Aster.

Apparently they get so many people coming there, They can pick and choose who they give a tour to. Leasing agent blew me off, When I showed up the next day for a tour. Very poor customer service. This is how they treat you when they 1st meet you, I imagine it would get worse if I moved in there. Stay far away this place or use extreme caution when looking for an apartment at this location.

Only been here a month but love it so far! Views from The Capella Lounge are breath taking and unique. All the residents Ive come across have been friendly and courteous. Complimentary morning coffee in the lobby surely hits home with me. The spa is a big bonus. If youre on the edge to decide over this place, Id recommend you go ahead with it!

I lived at Aster Tower right when it was built and stayed for almost 2 years! I loved the views of the city and how nice the building was. High rise living definitely has it's pros and cons, but I liked having a concierge, covered parking and my unit was really quiet (thank you concrete flooring). I often managed to get the sauna all to myself and enjoyed using the grill on the 21st floor. Maintenance was always super-speedy and great with communication. Downsides were the things like the AC unit is loud and doesn't cool down the bedroom. Moving is a pain, just make sure you reserve a loading dock and elevator.
