Los Angeles Southwest College

In the 90047 zip code area of LA where LASC is, there are mostly white collar jobs, and there more women than men in a 54% to 46% ratio. About 6,500 students attend LASC. The graduation rate however, is strikingly low, at 9%. The majority of LASC students are Black (55%) and Hispanic (35%). There are more women than men at LASC; about 68% of students are female and 32% are male. Because of the close proximity of West Athens to Los Angeles (less than 20 minutes from the LASC campus), it’s definitely recommended to head there for things to do. LA is known for many things, like its beautiful weather and an abundance of actors, dancers, and artists drawn to Hollywood. There are more than 800 museums in LA, which is the most museums per capita of all cities in the world, and the Dodgers, Kings, Clippers and Lakers are all based out of LA, so for sports fans and history buffs, there is always something to go see. Universal Studios is always a wonderful experience, too. The beach is a huge hotspot for day and night activities, and beaches like Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, and Venice Beach are all about 20 minutes away.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
