University City Neighborhood Summary

Can you imagine what this neighborhood might be centered around? UNC Charlotte is – unsurprisingly – the hub of University City. Of course, there are also a few great hotels for visiting parents and friends from home. Everything is close set compared to other neighborhoods in Charlotte, making it incredibly walkable. There are numerous shopping centers, lovely restaurants, and the fantastic amphitheatre for entertainment. Of course, this neighborhood is not entirely self-contained. It’s near a freeway with easy access to the rest of the city. There is no greater neighborhood for college students in Charlotte.

Charlotte Rent Prices More Affordable Than Major Cities

Rent growth in Charlotte over the past year has been declining. When compared to major cities nearby, along with some of the most expensive cities in the country, Charlotte average rent prices appear to be relatively affordable for local residents.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
