This place has a nice location, decent apartments and decent price. What they do not have is a staff that is even slightly interested in their tenants. I graduated and had the apartment for an extra semester, during this period i tried getting a tenant, he moved in but never end up signing the documents needed and I was forced to evict him. The roommate I was paired with also happen to move out and got himself a tenant. Now this roommate I had disappeared shortly after my moving out, he became completely unresponsive and no one could get a hold of him. Here is where I get screwed. this new tenant that my roommate got was paying rent keeping the administration happy but he refused to sign the contract or get a co signer. I tried for month to get him signed because the electricity was still under my name since I was the one on the contract and the only responsive one of the two original signers. I couldn't terminate my electricity because it would break contract (again i am the only one affected by this) and i was forced to pay this kids electric bill for 6 month plus a nice "late fee" because since the electricity was originally under my roommates name the bill was going to him and then to River market, who would hold on to it and call me to let me know a large amount of days had passes and I owed all this money. I was paying about 100$ of electricity a month for this one kid living there. During this entire time I called repeatedly and spoke to the manager Michelle Verhoeven, who of course pretended to be very nice and helpful but didn't do anything for me. She acted like she was going to resolve everything but sure thing a month later another bill with late fees. It got to the point where she was notoriously annoyed that I kept calling asking them to do WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO! and stop screwing me over.
To sum this issue up, since my roommate was unresponsive but his ilegal tenant was paying his rent they allowed him to stay. Regardless of the fact that they forced me to evict my tenant (which was the right thing to do i understand that) and regardless of the fact that they were fully aware that they were screwing me over with the electricity money.
On top of all of this, I was forced to pay damages caused by the other tenant to the toilet of the Guest/Other roommate bathroom. Since it was considered a guest bathroom they decided to split the cost although my room had it's own bathroom. Of course, it was easier to charge the responsive and diligent guy than the guys who never again picked up a phone.
My point is, if these guys are in a situation where they know they are screwing you over, but they are getting their money, they wont care at all for you or the right thing to do. If i were you i would go live in a Basham Rentals units, these guys are extremely reasonable, understanding, they listen to you and will work with you. In other words your dealing with people.
